This was the hotel included in the Hong Kong "extension" of our package China tour. After the large rooms of the (mainland) Chinese hotels, Harbor Plaza's room seemed small. I realized that Hong Kong rooms are small and Harbor Plaza's room was OK for a tourist hotel.
Furnishings were somewhat dated. TV was not flat screen, which was surprising. Nice bonus was the view. It wasn't a harbor view, but at least we weren't looking at the next building since the hotel is not located next to other tall buildings. Lobby was large and impressive.
The staff speaks excellent English (especially compared to hotel staff of mainland Chinese hotels). Check-in and checkout were smooth.
Our package included the breakfast buffet. Quality of food was decent and the variety was good. The view from the cafe was lovely. Even so, I would not pay an additional HK$164 for the buffet if I booked on my own.
A small shopping center is attached to the hotel. It has a laundry service (pay by the pound; much cheaper than the hotel prices), 7-11 (where we purchased local prepaid phone sim cards), supermarket (for buying bottled water and snacks) and Watsons drugstore. There is also a fast food court on the upstairs of the mall.
The free shuttle to Nathan Road, the main shopping street, was very convenient since it ran every 20 minutes. However, those who want their hotel located in the middle of luxury shopping should not choose Harbor Plaza since it is a little ways away from Nathan.
Very convenient to a main subway station and to busses.
Be advised that the hotel charges for internet usage in the room (using the Ethernet cord on the desk). It is HK$120 per 24-hour period.
Summary, we were very satisfied with our stay and we would choose Harbor Plaza Metropolis again.
