“Great Location, Fantastic Staff at Club L”
Reviewed February 28, 2014

We frequently visit Hong Kong 3-4 times a year and have tried many different 5 star hotels. I must say the Langham Place in Mongkok is definitely one of our favourites. Its prime location in the centre of the main shopping district, restaurants, and proximity to MTR and all public transport is second to none. We have stayed at this hotel a number of times now and the high level of service and attention from the Club L staff have consistently impressed us. I would say all the staff we have come across were warm and personal which brings the hotel to a higher level of service. For example, when I reserved a table for lunch in their chinese restaurant I was initially worried that it may be too noisy to discuss business, so one of the hotel managers "Vincent" very kindly went down to the restaurant the day before and took the extra effort to make sure that our table was seated in a quiet area. Now that's what you call special attentive service !
Our most recent experience was a 3 day stay over chinese new year in one of the specially themed "Chuan" rooms on club level. The room was beautifully decorated with a tranquil oriental theme and it is directly related to the Langham's renowned Chuan Spa facilities. There was a short cut from the rooms directly to the Chuan Spa and I highly recommend their superb massage experience. Very relaxing and rejuvenating after a long plane trip.
We have always stayed on Club L level and its definitely worth the extra money. The breakfast has good variety and we especially liked the milkshake energiser.
We will be back. In fact, we have already booked our next trip to stay here again !

Room Tip: The Chuan themed rooms are the Best of the Best on Club Level

We loved our stay at Langham Place!

We recently spent 6 nights in a 'Club Studio room'. The room is more spacious than the normal club room and comes with a mini kitchenette, which includes a sink and a microwave. The view is beautiful from 2 big circular windows.
The rooms were clean and well maintained, It was quiet and we slept very well.
Every night they offer a turn down service, refresh the bathroom and leave more water as well as a little surprise on your pillow.

Club L facilities are the best we have ever had, from breakfast through to late at night they have food and drinks on offer. The range of drinks, beer, wine and spirits is exceptional and the afternoon tea was very nice, especially the scones jam and cream!
The massage chairs were a nice touch, really good and we used them daily.

We loved Mongkok, after doing the normal tours of Hong Kong, we were more than happy with our choice to stay in that area. The wet markets, the ladies market and some great little local shops as well as the Langham Place Mall. The Hop on Hop off bus stops directly opposite the hotel so we did that for 2 days, then we used the train to get around, very easy.

Thanks to Langham Place for a very memorable stay in Hong Kong. Highly recommended.

Stayed one night at the Langham. Super convenient location (right next to the MTR station and shopping mall), immaculately clean and comfortable room (especially the bed and well-stocked bathroom with thoughtful amenities). The higher floors had amazing views over Hong Kong.

On the brilliant service, some friends based overseas had pre-arranged with the hotel a surprise bottle of champagne to be waiting in the room. The desk-staff did the perfect job of keeping the secret and house-keeping arranging it. The bottle was waiting in my room presented in an ice-bucket, with glasses and the message. Wonderful! Thank you so much.

1st time in HK, room booked as part of a deal. Got an Essential Place room on 29th floor, with a great view of the neighbourhood (which during daylight hours can seem a little drab, but this city comes alive at night and the neighbourhood comes into its own). So, check in swift and pretty minimal. The room big enough, with plenty of cupboard space. Super king sized bed really comfortable, with a great choice of pillows. The bathroom had separate shower and full sized bath, and plentiful and wide range of supplies. I asked the maid for extras of the body wash etc as they smelled so good. She happily left loads. The room itself was clean, although rather plain. We didn't eat at the hotel, so can't report on that - but can tell you that if you explore locally there are plenty of good street stalls and restaurants. This neighbourhood also gives you the best access for the markets, better and more interesting area than HK island in my view.

The hotel floors were quiet - no noise disturbance from other guests, and the maids will clean your room at any time. There were coffee making facilities but rarely enough coffee supplied to make it worthwhile (my only minus point on the service).

So, would I come again? Yes, absolutely. Just the right combination of service, location, and facilities.

We stayed a week at Langham Place . The hotel is in a good location, Mongkok is an interesting area and being so close to the MTR means you can get almost anywhere else fast.

The rooms are OK, a little small, but clean warm and comfortable. The Spa is amazing, and we made use of it most days - the view from the pool area is fantastic.

The only thing that let it down was the service. Whilst not appalling, it just isnt up to scratch. It took us 4 and a half hours from checking in to get our rooms sorted out ( i.e. as requested in our booking, and as agreed on checking in ) - when we had been traveling and were tired. There are lots of people in reception 'welcoming' you, but they faff about not doing anything worth while, and say they will call you and then don't.

The concierge was also poor, they can hand out maps and store luggage OK, but are no good at giving any support or advice.

I asked the concierge if they could recommend a restaurant down near the harbour as we were going to view the Harbour Lights show. The answer was 'No nothing good down there' - Really ! Nothing ?

Another day I asked about good family restaurants near the hotel in Mongtok, and again was told that the concierge could only recommend the hotels ( very expensive ) restaurants. When I googled restaurants there are two separate Michelin starred DimSum restaurants within 10 minutes walk of the hotel ( thanks TA ) - but apparently the concierge doesnt know about them or doesnt want you to know about them.

None of these things are terrible, but having spent over £2000 ( 30,000 HKD ) for my stay , I would expect better.

Fortunately wifi is good and free, and so I used Trip Advisor to find out what I wanted - but for a hotel that keeps claiming it has great service - they need to buck their ideas up !

The location might not be the best one for tourists but there you can really feel the vibes of Hong Kong. Let's say, the vibes from local perspectives. It was not like the central/Nathan Road.

The hotel connected directly to a mall. It wasn't the high end mall but I believe it was perfect and sufficient for a daily mall for locals. There was a quite easy connection to the underground from the mall.

Breakfast was pretty good in my opinion. I was happy as I got Hong Kong noodle, congee and dim sum for breakfast. There were English breakfast, pastries, fruit etc too.

Room was ok, not the best, but definitely not bad at all. I think the bathroom was pretty, very much Chinese marble style. Glass wall between the bedroom and the bathroom. View is tricky but I always miss big cities :) so why not!

They have some options of pillows. I always have problems with neck in the hotels so I usually ask for pillow options. Spa was good, I could use the sauna etc because I had a massage. Massage was good.

Funny how the staff picked us up at the car when we just arrived, they were trying to be friendly. We ordered pick up from and to the airport. They were nice Mercedes cars with all the drinks.

Overall it was nice.
