InterContinental Grand Stanford

Certificate of Excellence

I liked this hotel (husband prefers the other one).

We had a refurbished room with a bay view, the room didn't have a bath but a huge shower instead. The swimming pool and gym not as good as the Intercontinental across the road, but I think it caters more for the businessman than the tourist. Excellent knowledgeable Concierge and Reception staff - good for a night or two in HK.

If you want a poolside, relaxation sort of trip/holiday go to the other Intercontinental, but if you want just a base for Kowloon/HK this is excellent.

The Premium Twin Room was spacious and well designed. We got complimentary welcome drinks at the lounge and free wifi for being a Priority Club member. Service was good, and concierge was very helpful. Close enough to the nearest MTR station.

This hotel is stunning and all the staff are extremely courteous. The hotel is in a very good location with great views of the harbour. We had a harbour view room on a reasonably high floor the view was magnificent we never tired of watching the passing parade.

The InterContinental Grand Stanford hotel is superb. The service was excellent. The room we booked was amazing very well appointed and a good size for Hong Kong it was exactly as it was described. I booked with the hotel directly.
There are some good restaurants in the hotel, Cafe on M is great. The breakfast buffet is superb as well as the evening buffet. So much choice.
I love the feel of this hotel and the price is great value for money. The hotel is also close to Nathan Road and as much shopping as you wish.
Hong Kong Island is about a 15 min walk along the harbour to the Star Ferry.
I would highly recommend this hotel.

....but the standards here are just so high that it slips a bit behind others. That said, you won't be disappointed with your stay. Rooms are a good size and well provided. Windows don't open and the AC is a tad noisy but I'm being really picky.

So this is Hong Kong, and the hotel is extremely busy. Rooms are on the small side (smaller than London hotel rooms) but very functional. Worth paying for a room with a view over Hong Kong harbour as it is stunning.

Bar on ground floor was great, very attentive staff, good selection of beverages, and food. Good entertainment in evening and a happy hour.

Restaurant on 1st Floor is international buffet, but in my opinion on the expensive side although food quality good.

Across the hotel, I did find I had to literally ask for everything, which for 5 star is a little surprising.

I have been staying at the Intercontinental for 4 nights on a business trip. The hotel is located in a business and shopping area with plenty of restaurants and shopping opportunities. Hong Kong is general seems VERY expensive, based on this the hotel is reasonably priced. I had a riverview room, which was renovated, pretty big and actually had a good view on the port and opposite Island. A little disappointing (but same as in other hotels of this category) was that they charged extra for internet access in the room.
The hotel staff was professional and for Chinese standards very good and friendly. The lobby is at the entrance area and not really a place to relax....... Breakfast was good and even the hotel was full you always got a table to sit immediately. I also had dinner in the Italian restaurant which was good, the bar of the hotel had life music and was noisy for those who just wanted to have a drink.
Overall, I recommend this hotel for those who want to stay in Hong Kong for a couple of days, I think it is much better than most in the same category in this city!

Room Tip: take the sea/riverview

This is definitely a great product, but it is not the superb product which the other intercontinental is.

The above said, there is a serious chance I will come and stay in this intercontinental in future, it is cheaper than the main one, is significantly smaller therefore more intimate and pleasant to stay in.

The rooms are very pleasant and if you get one with a view they have a superb view.

The check-in staff were not particularly helpful and/or pleasant, but other than them the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant and could not do enough to help. It is definitely a worthwhile hotel.

On the recommendation of the person sitting next to me on the plane on the way out I utilise the AirPort Express, I would strongly recommend it to anyone as it took approximately 40 min from the airport to the hotel which is slightly shorter then the taxis tend to take, and on the way to the airport which I did during rush-hour it took the same 40 min I was hasslefree as you check-in in the station, which is a significant convenience.
