“Great experience beyond expectations;the E-Club de luxe room deal”
Reviewed November 25, 2006

We like to contribute with this objective review as non-profit tripadvisor with some usefull tips for frequent-travellers what to do and remarks about this hotel on this location in Hong Kong (mainland-Kowloon) like us who likes always to get what they expect.
We booked a REGULAR room (HK$1,950 /night)in this hotel by Cathay Pacific Holidays in a package deal for eight days flight/hotel/transfers/sightseeing and a 6 over-nights stay in this hotel.
We were also looking for a perfect central location to discover Hong Kong for several goals like visiting and shopping centers, streets, markets also good spot for (transport) nearby subway entrances.(MTR- subway and taxi is very cheap .we paid taxi's from HK$20 to HK$25 for 2 - 4 km)
By reading several positive and negative reviews we found out that a better deal would be the E-CLUB THE LUXE (HK$2,570 /night) because of little space in the room in the regular room prices are not always including breakfast.
Calculations via their own home site Eaton-hotel Hong Kong (early bird rates starting of regular HK$855 Eaton club de luxe roomHK$1413) we found out that a better deal would be the E-club the luxe room because of including breakfast and many extra's like all day free coffee/tea/internet acces in a especialy the e-club lounge for e-room members.
We most say that altough the booking was a fixed booking for the regular room they organised changements without problems with helpfull informing and very clearly informing the difference in pricing and conditions.
Good quick reponse on e-mails send by us to this hotel enquiry/reservation site gave us the impresion that it is a well organised hotel management.. Easy acces to the information home site of Eaton-hotel Hong Kong .

E-CLUB lounge
Private check in/out service Proffesional great service staff controled by e-club manager Mrs.Mimi Cheung and her assistant Mr.Angus Yip (like PA's to all quests with helpfull tips and following up all requests )We feel very 'at home'although we were far away from home/Holland. Europe
In the club lounge (1th floor)even incl. alcoholic drinks between 18.00 and 20.00hrs -the happy free hours-every day also including fine snacks and appetizers are free! Calculation of some drinks a day and great breakfast pays the difference rate regular-eaton and de club luxe with' pampering' 6 stars service included!
A complement is to see that even 10 minutes before closing down the breakfast buffet (10.00a.m. and weekends until 11.00a.m.)they started again to fill up the dishes/plates with new fresh items if it has just started/opening breakfast. Many times we have seen something else in other hotels.
Free acces on three spots in this lounge for internet-communications in all privacy .
Manny LCD's buit in the walls and a fency furniture together with using a lot of wood materials in the decoration of walls etc gave high class impresion right from the moment you walk in this lounge.
This lounge is an extra free service exclusive for E-club room members including all services for tourists/business men who appriciate the personal toutch and to have a meeting point .
Telephoning is better/cheaper in the lobby than in the hotel rooms .(offen all the prices in Hotels are excl. service tax 10% and government tax 3%)
e.g.using telephone in room HK$95 for one minute call to Europe was out of norm.range! So we only used the free internet acces

E- Club de luxe room;
This is not a 4 star spacy room but a 6 star, with all luxe-facilities incl.great views, good bed -not hard or too soft-, coffee/tea maker, luxery warm interieur/furniture, internet acces (check the rates) -nice badroom(all items are there ) plenty of place to put your clothes and presents you are going to buy!.........(Took some photos)
Roomservice incl standard every day fresh fruit-plate and respecting 100% privacy rules.e.g. We made a mistake instead of putting the sign 'make up my room' we turned this sign at the door in the morning by leaving the room with 'do not disturb'..Nobody did come in the room until we came back late in the afternoon. We found two letters who were slipped under the door into the room with requests to contact the staff for reporting on what time we would like them to make up our room!!!.
Ther was no minus item to find exept that this room had a 'óld fashion' tv set for such a luxery room.So really nothing to complain about. Great room next time we ll take this kind of room again.
By informing about the renovations which is going on, they told me that this is taken care of and changed into LCD/Plasma's .
We could stay whole day in the room but we came to see Hong Kong and wanted to see also some other Hotels

We have been talking to other guests who stayed in the regular room and as we are planning for a group an Asia non-profit tour in 2007 we asked Salesmanager Fanny Tang to show us the other rooms to make a comparisation .
We found out that the regular rooms w'e have seen were a lot smaller as ours (as many hotel-rooms in Hong Kong)and that this hotel is actulaly in an second stage of renovation making the reglular rooms bigger by extending/ajusting half of it 's size extra by sacificing one room to every third room to get back space for upgrading these regular rooms.
Good thinking because we are as european traveller used to bigger room/facilities.
If you do not mind a smaller room and just looking for a good location and reasonable price without using their breakfast facilities then this kind of room-regular- is very value for the money in this very safe Hong Kong area.

Transportation facilities from/to airport-hotel;
-Taxi;This hotel has own counter Eaton limousine-pick up service point B04 in the arrival hall of the airport. (HK$490 one way)30-45minutes drive.
-Subway (MTR) from airport to kowloon via central-station,changing direction admiralty-station to 'exit'Jordan'station(nathan road) .5 minutes walk to the hotel
-Bus; about HK$130,-one way -VIGOR services-
We took the limousine one time and the bus the other time .
Comparing pricing the pick up/drop off service by bus right to the hotel it is much cheaper and also good alternative for not walking around in the subway with suitcases.

Regular room;
Price value is okay if you only sleep in this room and furniture standard is not so bad as I have been reading in reviews.
Without renovations these rooms are still okay because the hotel keep up the rooms in good condition by many checks. I asked also to show me the difference between renovated and not renovated-rooms .Nice of them showing this without commercial goal these rooms.
New renovated rooms are better and more sophisicated with a big toutch of warm furniture by using a lot of wood and I have seen the TV- LCD's build into the wall.(Took some photos)
Even the regular room is okay for tourists or businessmen but we liked the eaton club the luxe room more.(best value for money object compared to others as the Kowloon hotel or Shangri-La in this area.

We checked ALL the restaurants inside this hotel

Restaurants (inside Hotel Eaton)

Good international dinner with nice live music.
Drinks a bit expensive (e.g. a glass of red wine ca HK$ 70).
Veal chop / Lab chops, drinks ;dinner two persons here incl services ca HK$550 not cheap not expensive but okay considering ther is a band playing with different kinds of good music
Okay also for a drink with your parner or all by yourself to sit at the bar in the evening just to listen to the music/show.

We had lunch there.Two persons.
2x express lunch an one drink HK$266 incl serv./tax
Located in atrium. Meal incl main course and (eat that all as you like to get or can eat !...so many nice items ,so you for sure have to use the free indoor fitness center or swimming pool on the top floor 23th to loose these calories....) great variously buffet of asian of western food for starters and desserts.
Reasonble pricing.

Restaurant (-2 floor) YAT TUNG HEEN
Cantonese cuisine.
We had lunch once and dinner.
We asked Paul the responsable man for this award winning restaurant to make/to order something the local people liked best \. Nice remark that the chef-cook Danny(?) came to say hi at the table to all quests. A little personal final toutch. Impressed by this asian food we understand now that we had to make reservation in advance for dinner and lunch.A ll tables occupied!Do try the Dim Sum here.(good chinese special dish (starter main course and several desserts incl.
We noticed that no chinese family order alcoholic drinks (some rice wine maybe) at the dinner-table ; only drinks good brandmark tea's.
Dim Sum dinner/lunch two persons(all incl)we paid HK$154 and special asian fine dinner about $280 (plus HK$160 for the bottle of nice red-wine!....)
Good service and food quality products

We visited it but did nt uses this service because of the e-club lounge facilities.
Fine casual atmosphere with several internet PC acces and clean area's.

Location Hotel
Safe area at day and night.
Nathan road very central location right next to Temple street -night market (16.00-0.00hrs)ca 100 mtr 1 minute walk.
Tung Choi street -*Ladies market 700 mtr 10-15 minutes walk.
Paralel to this the electronic goods street; *Sai Yeung Choistreet PC/lap tops, camera's electronic goods.
* both you can take the subway exit Mongkok station
-Look always outside the shop the display of QTS Quality Tourism Services (clearly displayed prices of products and menus and good knowledge of their products)
Hong Kong Tourism Board had checked these shops/restaurants.
See also Discover Hong Kong for other tips.

-Cable car ca 7 km ride on Lantau island to the buddha statue and have lunch in the monastery.
Great view over hong kong mountains and you will even see airplanes landing at the airport very nearby!

Hong Kong island . Go to the peak with the tram in the evening to have a great night view of Hong Kong. Very romantic location site at the Peak -peak landmark tram- (amazing view so don't forget your camera to shoot without flash nice illuminated pictures )Bus back to central station is number 1 or take a taxi if you are with more people then 2 persons.

Take the Star ferry ( HK$ 2,20 ) central to get back to the mainland (Kowloon- Tsim Sha Tsui) .
Good very cheap alternative boat-ride on a (1957) ferry boat and have a great experience and a great view on Hong Kong waterfront-view.
You will be arriving by boat at the bus station but you can also take a walk back to the hotel passing by Salisbury road left to Hangkow road and right back on Nathan road .(So you will walk by many nice shops and restaurants)
Walking up to the hotel another 15 minutes.
A taxi ride from this bus station(boat-Star Ferry exit) to the Eaton Hotel is about HK$ 25-30

Sightseeing Tours;
Take a busride tour to discover Hong Kong at least one time during your stay by daytime .
We took supercity appetizer by Vigor ToursLtd departing at the hotel Kowloon at .09.00hrs am to be dropped of at 14.30hrs .
Not expensive and good value for money.
See Hong Kong island ;the peak the beaches the shopping center causeway bay by bus, a short stop in a juwelery factory jade items and 'expensive''nice 'things' -leave your credit card at home?!-and get a lot of information from the english spoken guide history and helpfull tips what to do and see in Hong Kong and a you will have the opertunity for a boatride in the harbour between' the old scene floating boats'

Don't take; the Aberdeen Night Cruise (Spendid tours) (HK$560 p.p.) including "night cruise and ' dinner:''
You will be 'dumped' on the roof of a boat in the evening to have some 'free'drinks. Afterwards you will have dinner at the Jumbo floating boat in the middel of the harbour of Hong Kong for an quick-asian-european tasting meal and afterwards a quick stop only!(!)half way up to the peak and then quickly be brought back to your hotel. No value for the money. Instead of this take the Star ferry ca HK$2 and a good restaurant in the top of one of the buildings to overview Hong Kong. There are so many of them.
Or dinner/lunch Aqua roma/ Aqua tokyo jap+italian dim sum sunday brunch 29th floor One Peking.

Best coffee in town
-Starbucks coffee 1-13 D Aquilar Street Central HK
- Pacifific Coffee nearby hotel Eaton on Nathan Road 5 minutes walk (direction-south)to the waterfront

One last tip ; write down the name of the hotel or destionation in chinese language (by concierge hotel) because not all taxidrivers understand englisch and ask before you go 'on board'of this taxi an estimation rate of fares to this point.
If you have problems in Hong Kong call the consumer Counsil Hotline for assistance or multilingual Visitor Hotline HKTB.

But.......I don't think you will need this because all the people we have met in Hong Kong were so polite and very friendly, very respectfull so I cannot make another conclusion that we 'll come back to Hong Kong and staying again in the same Hotel Eaton-hotel on Nathan road again. Same room, same place, another time......Writing this review at home in Holland I feel a bit home-sick allready!......Can't wait to come back soon to Hong Kong!
With the help/service/tips of the staff by staying in this hotel it created an impact even more then an experience beyond expectatations............................We lived our dream!
Please do not disturb..................

My husband and I just returned from spending 4 days at the Eaton HOtel and were very pleased with our choice.
The hotel is clean, service professional , a wonderful breakfast buffet, happy hour with entertainment in their lounge nightly, wonderful Chinese restaurant downstairs in the building and a great value for the price.
Yes, the rooms are very small but we didn't spend too much time in our room, too busy sightseeing, while their bathrooms are new and large.
The location is walking distance to the outdoor markets, and an easy 30 minute walk to the waterfront area and the Star Ferry.
If your looking for a nice hotel within your budget, I would recommend the Eaton.

Lovely hotel in a great, but busy, location. Away from most of the hustle and bustle on Nathan Road, but near enough to enjoy it.

We decided to take the bus from the airport, I think it was either the 20 or 21 (check with tourist info at the airport) and the bus takes you right outside of the Nathan Hotel next door.

The reception is on the 4th floor, I mention this as we got a bit lost on arrival, and that was a painless experience. The only bad point was that we were given a different room from what we requested, but it was sorted out in a matter of minutes.

The pool was nice, with views over Kowloon, and usually you get it to yourself. The gym was absolutely fine. Can't comment on the food, as we were on a budget.

I definitely would stay there again!

We - 4 adults and 2 children from Denmark - stayed at Eaton 26-29th september 06. We had via hotels.com reserved a double room, which should be oh so nice.
But what a dissapointment! The rooms 932 and 1514 were so small, that it was impossible to have our luggage inside the rooms....It was clearly a singleroom sold with two beds and then - acracadabra - sold as a double.
Furthermore the standard of the rooms was very poor.
Price: 5.750 HKD for 3 nights without breakfast.

This was by far the best value hotel we could find in Hong Kong when travelling with small children (ages 2 5 & 7). It was important to have interconnecting rooms to allow us some space. The cost can be blown out by this but at the Eaton the rooms were small but adequate and comfortable and about 40% cheaper than elsewhere for the same requirement.

Close to shopping, markets across the road, close to subway, great food and exceptional service. The staff are a real credit with a special mention to the Baggage Supervisor and to the Front Desk Assistant Manager (Anton?). Their names escape me as I lost their cards on the trip. These people were exceptional given that the service was already excellent. Earlier comments referred to the hotel undergoing renovations but that looked nearly complete to me and they were changing the beds while we were there. Roof top pool like a Roman Bath as well.

CAUTION- avoid the hairdressers across the road when going right out of the lobby (Tony?) A scamming rip off who doesn’t have basic haircutting equipment or skills but thinks he is a designer. Charged me a hundred Australian dollars for a Basic NO.2 haircut normally costing about 10 AUD.
However the restaurant left of that is great for lunch.

Stayed at the Eaton on the last day of my 10 day trip business trip to China. Booked the hotel on line through their website as the price was great for a 4 star HK hotel (900HKD). Reserved a Queen, Non Smoking Superior Room, which was recently renovated with Plasma TV. Stayed in room 1313 accross from Elevator.
Check in and check out were both slow, and not very efficient for a 4 star HK hotel.
Rooms were small, but very tastefully decorated and the bed was very comfortable.
Lots of road noise, so I assume that the windows were not soundproofed unlike most other HK hotels.
Small gym with two Precor treadmills, complimentary fruit and water. Nice roof top pool.
Location is not great, which is probably why it is considerably less expensive that other TST hotels.
Excellent value for a 4 star Hong Kong hotel.
May stay again if I can get the same rate.

Brilliant hotel, we were on our way to new zealand and stayed at the eaton hong kong for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon, and they upgraded our room and gave us a lovely bottle of champagne! The room was a club executive room which was massive and so luxiorus! the staff are amazing and helpful and the club lounge was great with free internet access all day long and free drinks and champagne and breakfast. Its definetly worth having a club room as when we spoke to some brits who were staying in a basic room they were saying how horrible and pokey it was and that breakfast was so expensive to have as it wasent included in their package.
