The hotel is located near Jordan MTR (Exit B2 - a stop away from Tsim Tsa Tsui station), which is just around the corner. When you come out from Jordan MTR Exit B2, walk to your right side, then turn left. The hotel is just behind it. It is very convenient for one to move around. You can find many eating places nearby. When you walk out of the hotel, turn left and walk straight on. Cross the street and from thereon, you can find various stalls selling local food. There is 2 7-eleven nearby which can come in handy if you need something late at night. Like most Hong Kong hotels, the rooms are small but sufficient as we spent most of our time outdoor. The room is equiped with the basic toileteries, hair dryer, TV, kettle. Apart from that, you cannot hear any noise from outside, which is a good thing! The staff was very efficient in handling our booking. Our rooms are cleaned everyday, and towels are changed everyday as well. If you want a budget accommodation in a good location, I recommend this hotel.

Likes:
Location - Close to the MTR. It was about half a block away from the Jordan Station exit B2. Just make a left to the alley when you exit the station. The hotel is situated in an alley, but it's a safe area. FYI, we could not find an elevator in sight in the MTR station. We had to carry our luggage through many flights of stairs before we got to street level. Stores and restaurants everywhere. Close to Lady's Market, Nathan Street, Yau Ma Tei, Mong Kok and Tsim Sha Tsui. Visitors who have never visited Hong Kong may feel more comfortable staying at Tsim Sha Tsui or Hong Kong Island which has a more Westernized American feel.

Room - We decided to book a room with two twin size beds. It looked bigger in comparison to the room with the double size bed. When we got there, we were pleasantly surprised by the size. We got a corner room. There was room for our luggage. Room to walk around. Bathroom was also good size. Sheets and towels were clean. Bed was comfortable. Didn't hear any traffic noise.

Price - Best price I could in find the Jordan and Yau Ma Tei area during the holidays.

Staff - spoke English.

Dislikes:
Room/Hotel - Decor and maintenance was obviously run down. Dusty and moldy on the bathrooms walls. Needs re-caulking on the bathroom tiles. Musty and moldy smell in the hallways. Yuck..tired my best to get past the sight and smell. I was able to hear some noise from my neighbor as they were coming and going to their room.

Staff - Not exactly friendly. Then again most Hong Kong people aren't that friendly, it's a cultural thing...don't take it personally.

Would I stay here again? Probably not.

I stayed at Largos the first time I went to HK in March. It was for 2 nights, if I didn't remember wrongly. Chose another hotel when I went there last month.

Largos is one of the cheapest hotels we could find in the Jordan area, and was near the MTR. The room wasn't very clean, stains on the surfaces, bedsheets, pillows. The air-con temperature couldn't be adjusted.

The staff at the reception can be quite slow at times. We'd always resort to asking the doorman for recommendations on places to visit. Once,we wanted to go to The Peak, and asked him how to get there. He advised us against going as there's a possibility of a typhoon that day? On another occasion, we asked for a place that has good dim sum. He recommended a restaurant that was only two streets behind Largos. One of the best dim sum I had! I went back to that restaurant again last month :)

Positives:
- great location, off main roads but steps from Jordan MTR
- transformers (e.g. for electronics) was available for free from front desk

Negatives:
- room was small (e.g. compared to same type of room at BP International which is close by on Austin Rd)
- cleanliness was so-so (some towels had stains)
- no complimentary internet access

Overall we had an enjoyable stay.

Please read my letter (with slight censoring) to the hotel's management following my stay at this location. It should hopefully paint a sufficient picture for you.

To whom this may concern,

Hello, I recently stayed 3 nights (September 25-28, 2010) at the Largos Hotel in Hong Kong on Nanking Street in Kowloon. Our 3-night reservation was made in June (3-4 months earlier) for a non-smoking, double bed. This was a culmination of a 3-week trip to China to celebrate my wife's and my first wedding anniversary.

When we arrived the evening of the 25th, we were provided a room (# 409). We went to the room to find it was a smoking room (entire floor) and so we returned to get a different room. It turns out no non-smoking rooms were available with a double bed (despite making the reservation so far in advance). The woman at the front desk was quite rude and very clearly gave a "I don't give a sh--" response to our raised concerns and told us our option was to stay in the smoking room (my wife is allergic) or stay in a room with single beds. We were told that 2 rooms with double beds would open up the next day and we would be moved into one of them. We ended up staying in the "2 single bed" room for the night (# 1103).

The next morning, I spoke with a gentleman at the front desk who said he would have our luggage transferred to the new room when it became available. We left the hotel to explore Hong Kong and returned around 10pm. We were provided a new room key (for room # 703 I think) and went to the room where our luggage had been moved. We gagged when we entered the room as it reeked of vomit (we were unable to determine the source). We quickly pulled our luggage out of the room and I returned to the front desk to get a different room. There was one other non-smoking room available (# 508) so we took it and found a very distinct smoking odor permeating it. I returned to the front desk... again... with this issue and was told we had the option of the non-smoking room that had been smoked in or the vomit room we had just left. Obviously, we stuck with what we had and had to air the room out for a couple hours to get rid of most of the smell (open door, room fan and bathroom fan).

At no point throughout this entire experience was there an "I'm sorry for the mixup." or an "I'm sorry you room smells like vomit, let's try to fix that." The attitude from your staff was pretty much "Tough sh--."

In addition to this, your rooms were unacceptably dirty. One of them had a number of hairs distributed in the bathroom and the bed sheets (leading one to believe the sheets don't get changed). Another had an old bandaid stuck to the curtains.

Every morning we would choke our way through the hallway and down the elevators to get out of the hotel due to the "chemicals" used in the public areas. It smelled of overpowering finger nail polish or something along those lines.

I sincerely hope you're able to use this feedback to improve the servie provided in your hotel.

Regards,
XXX

I love the hotel because it's very affordable. I can't remember the price but it's consider cheap for perk period comparing to other hotels. I also love the fact that it's is located at 1 corner of the street, less bustle and noise.

As for the room wise, it's very clean and modern looking. The beds are in a nice size, not too small, and it's comfortable.

the best part of the hotel, it is very near to the train station. (Less than 5 min walking distance.) And, it's surrounded by convienence store such as 7-11 and F&B outlets which makes staying so much easier.

What I don't like is that, they don't have a notice to notify the guest that the reception is in level 2. Secondly, not all service staffs are polite, some are quite hostile and slow.

What made me really angry is that I had to wait for my room for 1 hour plus despite arriving the hotel at 4plus when the official check in time is 2pm. I was so tired yet I have to wait due to their inefficency.

The room is very small, just enough place for walking after putting the luggages. But I can't complain much because most of the HK hotel rooms are rather small. I think one more important point Largos has to improve is to put free bottled water.
