“Pretty good all around”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2012

A good, basic hotel with all of the mod-cons you'd expect.

When in HK you have to apply a handicap to all hotels because of the tiny rooms and generally poor service. Space is hugely limited and sleeping in a closet with your suitcase on top of you isn't abnormal.

I got a good deal on Bishops Lei for around $85 USD per night and was pleasantly surprised. The location is great (top of the soho/central escalator close to all of the bars and restaurants), the staff were actually pretty friendly, there was a pool and gym which I didnt use but looked OK, the bed was small but I managed to sleep well, water was hot, aircon worked as did the TV, cleanliness was good... generally pretty happy.

It's not a swish hotel but if you can get a deal it's worth the money..... for HK that is.

Room Tip: It's hard to find at night so save a screenshot of google maps to your phone.

First time I am traveling to Hongkong and staying in this hotel, the superior room what they gave me was just space of small size bed & that's it, total area of room will be about 8*8 sq feet, including wardrobe & toilet, I was v unhappy and told them to change to the suit room, at this time when I am writing the review I am sitting in harbor view suits room, the sitting room again very small they have got one small table and a sofa set with tv that's it, total area about 8*8 sq feet and for the bed room they have got about 10*10 sq feet area, with tv set. TVs are small size but modern and they have tried to give a lot in the small places, I would say they have utilized the space in a good way.
Suit room seems to be fine with me rather then a superior room.......
Overall I would say I don't know if this is the situation everywhere or only here but when you pay 80USD you expect a bigger superior room not the 8*8 sq feet room.....

But good thing is that its clean n nice, staff is polite and friendly.
Suit room has got stunning view.
Thanks

Basically just a place to sleep and shower, so fine for that.

Pros: Great location (5 min walk to top of escalator one way and zoo the other. Take some time out to spend with the monkeys or walk to the nearby aviary which is also amazing), easy to get to Peak and LKF, great view, free in-room wifi, helpful concierge staff for directions/translations/transport.

Cons: Breakfast buffet in the hotel is convenient and basic enough (weak coffee, eggs, toast, etc.) but pretty uninspiring after a few days of exactly the same things. Note: the 10% service charge doesn't actually go to the servers, we were told, more to "the house", so leave a tip if they're good! Closest decent breakfast joint I could find was The Flying Pan, which was decently priced and had better food. Maid service was inconsistent. Front desk less able to help with questions, usually just said, "Ask the concierge".

Relatively Cheap. Friendly & efficient Staff. Great Location at the top of the escalator from Central. Literally 10-15 minute walk down to the IFC mall & airport express if you know where you're going.

Pool wasn't worth mentioning. Might be better in summer though maybe !?

Room Tip: Harbour view on the 10th Floor. It was in the corner and it was great !

Good points:
- good location near the escalator
- reasonable room rates (£35 per person per night)
- generally clean rooms
- free wifi in rooms

Bad points:
- rooms are a bit small but I guess that's HK for you

The Harbour View Suite was comfortable and had excellent views to the whole city centre! The outdoor pool had also great views but the water was cold since it had no heating.

Great buffet breakfast, for example there was a cook making omelettes according to your wishes. All service staff was helpful.

Good location, close to the escalators and botanical gardens + a free shuttle bus.

Room Tip: Choose a Harbour View Suite.

This hotel is a great location, it is right next to the Mid level escalators. The hotel has amazing views of the city and a room with full windows is a must! The hotel it's self is not very modern or of a good 4 star quality. The beds are comfortable and the staff friendly. The hotel is worth the stay for the location as little time is spent in the rooms, the rooms are small so if you can ask for the suite, this has a small "lounge area".

Room Tip: Choose a suite with full glass in the bedrooms for great views.
