“Affordable hotel for family”
Reviewed January 31, 2013

It was our second time staying in this hotel. This time, we occupied the family room with bunk bed. The room is not that spacious for family of four but enough to have a place to rest after a long day of walking and strolling. The rooms were clean, beddings were fresh. The check in was hassle free. We didn't wait so long considering the volume of the guests arriving. I was surprised to see a lot of shops and food stalls infront of the hotel, unlike the first time I stayed here. The hotel walking distance to Jordan MTR, and airport bus station. And there is a night market walking distance to the hotel.

Room Tip: Request for a family room if travelling with the family.

BP International in Hong Kong felt more like a youth hostel than a real hotel. The "family quad" room consisted of two sets of bunks with the most uncomfortable mattresses I've ever slept on in my life. The room was so small that the four of us could barely move in there. The photos you see on their website are a work of magic and I'm sure some creative license was taken as what we saw didn't even resemble the the pictures.

Our toilet blocked twice in three days for no apparent reason and the buffet dinner was lacking for choice and the food was only just passable.

If you are wanting even the slightest amount of comfort or usury in a hotel, this is not the place for you.

Room Tip: Be aware that the rooms are tiny.

I stayed here about ten days total with a Macau break in between in Sept 2012. So I really stayed here about five days twice within two weeks.

The staff is friendly but only somewhat helpful. I asked them what's good to eat around here, and they could only tell me to go eat at the restaurant next door.. Most of them spoke English which is a plus. I made some room arrangement changes last minute and they were able to accommodate. And whenever I walk by the cleaning staff in the hallways, they would always smile and greet me.

The lobby is large and spacious with sofa's around to sit. Sometimes the free lobby wifi works but sometimes it doesn't. The first few days here the free lobby wifi worked great, but after that none of the other days worked when I was here. Sadly they do charge for room wifi, but they have a little workstation area on the second floor right by the mini lounge that are free to use. There's a dining buffet area on the second floor which I didn't try.

The rooms were the most disappointing thing about this hotel. They were all extremely small. I would feel really cramped in it by myself, let alone two persons sharing a room. The beds were hard and very uncomfortable. The plus is that the rooms do look clean. The worst part of the rooms were that you can hear everything going on outside the hall and even your neighbors when speaking. Not very good if you want privacy.

Another con about this place is the elevators. These have to be the slowest elevators I've ever encountered. There's no other way around it, you just have to toughen up and wait.

For something positive, easily the best thing about this hotel is the location. Its basically next to the Kowloon Park. Its about a five minute walk from the Jordan metro station. Right down the street is Tsim Sha Tsui. For those that want a ton of bars nearby, Knutsford Terrace is about a 10 min walk. The Macau Ferry is walking distance as well as the night market Temple Street. This is really a great location!

Based on the location and staff, I would stay here again even with the bad rooms.

A big hotel, well placed and almost equidistant from two separate metro lines (Austin and Jorden).
Neither too close, nor too far from Tsim Ths Tsui, easy to come down and enjoy Hong Kong Street food.
Little elevator revamp work which was ongoing in last week of Dec;2012 for better convenience. Somehow the rooms are small are little difficult if you are with kids.
