“Great stay!”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

I had visited hongkong for a fortnight long vacation with my family and another one of my friend's family. our stay at intercontinental was absolutely problem-free and all was done to ensure that we were comfortable... it is very close to the kowloon bay which was one of the must visit places on our list....the only thing i found was that the maximum occupancy per room did not allow both my young children to stay in one room with their parents and hence we had to book another room to accomodate evryone. It is something that can be reassessed as it is so common for families to be travelling with 2 children and it is highly inconvenient to take another room and spend the nights separately when the whole point of the vacation is having a good time together.

This is a great hotel, very centaly located at the bottom of Nathan Road. Its close to the MTR subway and easy to get anywhere in Hong Kong from here. The staff are pleasent enough and efficient. The food and beverage outlets at this property are outstanding, although you certainly pay for it - they are not cheap...

The rooms are nice and reasonably comfortable. They are a good size for Hong Kong and if you have a room with a harbour view - they don't come much better.

I would certainly recoment the property and will no doubt be back when next in Hong Kong.

Room Tip: Get a harbour view!

Our priorities in choosing a luxury Hong Kong hotel are location and view. There’s no shortage of deluxe accommodations, but some cost roughly twice as much as the Intercontinental, and cannot match its sightlines. Perched at harbor’s edge, it’s a scenic, five-minute stroll from the Star Ferry Terminal, and offers easy access to Kowloon’s colorful street life.

Check-in was quick and friendly. We were upgraded from the Junior Suite we’d booked to a Superior Suite. Six-foot-high windows ran the full length of the living room, bedroom and bathroom. The fourth-floor location let us feel close to the boat traffic on Victoria Harbor and pedestrians on the Promenade. Nighttime views of Central’s fabled skyline were breathtaking.

Knowing we’d be eating out every night, we opted not to add Club access for another $170 per night, which seemed a bit of a stiff ticket compared to some high-end properties.

From concierges to maids, and from breakfast waiters to bar staff, we encountered only efficient and personable service. The one venue that fell short was Yan Toh Heen (the Chinese restaurant; see separate review), but I mark that against the restaurant, not the hotel. Everyplace else, including Spoon – the Michelin two-star French restaurant -- was terrific.

Other than that, not much to add to the many thorough reviews here, except that the Lobby Lounge rates as one of our favorite places in the world to settle in for drinks, snacks and view.

Room Tip: Rooms on lower floors bring the harbor scene to life.

I agree with most of the good reviews here. Rooms and infinity pool are impeccable! The lobby lounge view is amazing especially in the afternoon when the sun sets. The hotel is located near popular attractions like Avenue of the Stars, Kowloon Bay and Hong Kong Cultural Center when one could view the lovely HK Symphony of Lights.

This hotel has the best view from Kowloon i would say. the hotel have a quite a big price difference due to this and does try to do a hard sell at the time of checking in. The b/fast was good with a good verity and the view of the sea and HK island was breathtaking whilst having b.fast. Rooms are bit dated but its clean and up-kept. very convent place. had underground link to the MRT but its a bit of a walk. they have 3 very good restaurants some of them are 5 star Michelin. Inc one of the best stake restaurants in town.

My wife and son stayed here for 4 nights in April. Greeted with an upgrade to a Junior Suite which was great, superb service throughout. The hotel lobby lounge on the Friday and Saturday was just a buzz of people a mixture of business and pleasure having a good time.
If I had one moan it would be that I would of expected to be able to use the sauna without having to book a spa treatment package, otherwise highly recommend.

We stayed for one night with our 6 year old daughter in a Deluxe Harbour View room. The view from the room was incredible - huge picture window looking out over the harbour. We had a fantastic view of the evening light show. The room was very high spec and comfortable, although not huge. We were expecting it to be bigger. As we had an extra bed in there for our daughter, it made the space VERY tight. Had we being staying longer it would have been a problem.

The check in was quick and efficient, and as we were arriving with a sleeping child, they didn't make us wait at reception but went straight to the room and checked in there. This was much appreciated.

Breakfast at the hotel was a huge hit! The buffet was enormous and had a huge array of choices. Food was plentiful and very tasty, plus service was friendly and efficient. Alas, the breakfast room was taken over with American business people. They were in various large groups and rather dominated. We had a group of guys near us who were being very crass and generally 'laddy' and didn't seem to care to temper their behaviour given they had a family and small child sat next to them. This rather spoilt the experience for us. It also meant the waiting staff were run ragged dealing with these demanding and quite rude clientele.

The hotel is in a great location, close to Nathan Road, the Star Ferry terminal and the Avenue of the Stars, which my daughter loved strolling down.

We spent a pleasant hour or two in the roof top jacuzzi (the pool is heated but it was just not warm enough weather to indulge) which really is special with its view. The poolside service was brilliant - extremely attentive and friendly. We had people running to bring us towels, robes, taking photos - all without being asked. My daughter loved it!

This is a great hotel - we really enjoyed out time there. But it is primarily a hotel for business people I think rather than for a family holiday. But I'd go back for a night or two and hopefully next time will get to sample Nobu or Spoon.
