“Very clean and close to public transport”
Reviewed February 24, 2014 via mobile

It had been a while since I had stayed on the island Kowloon is generally more convenient. If you get a good price rooms re good and clean and beds very comfortable. Wif fi costs a packet marks down for this and really it was quite impersonal and seemed to have lots of noisy Chinese mainland visitors I was twice awoken at night by them.

Stayed here for 2 weeks in February - overall a good experience.

Transportation is easy - Quarry Bay MTR station is right across the street, although there's almost NOTHING going on in this area, so to get to anything interesting (wan chai, central, etc.), it's a 20 min ride at least.
Marketplace by Jason is also right across the street, making it easy to pick up groceries or snacks. Starbucks and a HK fast food place is across the street too, so all conveniences are pretty handy.
The hotel itself is fine - not neccesarily renovated and refurbished, but a good, solid, clean room with decent space (not a lot mind you, there's 2.5 feet between the end of the bed and the tv stand). Water pressure was awesome in the shower, and housekeepers were super nice and do a great job.
Fitness center is pretty well outfitted - 5-6 treadmills, recumbent bike, elliptical and free weights up to 50lbs as well as a few machines.
Had a mountain view which was pretty awesome given the green hills in HK.

On the downside:
the walls are pretty thin. Late at night, it's pretty easy to hear people laughing and coughing next door.
Staff is pretty brusque - but not sure if that's par for the course here.
Wifi was HKD$130 a day!?! kind of insane in this day and age :/

Overall a good stay, unremarkable, and not a ton of character, but it was fine for a business trip.

I stayed at this hotel for the first time because I had a big party at its good Chinese restaurant. I booked early enough so I enjoy a good rate, and as such the hotel is good valued (but sometimes it is not so). Accommodation and service are decent. I got upgraded to a partial harbor view suite with kitchen but all kitchen equipment is not working (it works if you book a long stay), and internet are over-charged, even to retrieve only a few emails, at almost USD18 (must be for 24 hours). I think it is the practice of the ultimate owner, Li Ka-shing, who is known to be capable of squeezing every cent out of customers. The location is not good but an MTR station is just opposite and the hotel operates limited free shuttle buses. The point is that if you pay less than 1000 HKD it is a good choice and I can return. Not so if pricy. The Chinese restaurant, Yat Tung Heen, is good for really authentic local food though it is crowded and noisy.

Room Tip: Harbor view rooms are better and quieter

The hotel is well kept rooms are clean and the staff is professional. The location is across from the Quarry Bay MTR station on Hong Kong Island. This is however quite a ways from most traditional things to do. Therefore it did add quite a bit of time to all of our trips out, meaning we had to get out earlier and get back later each day. The room while clean is a traditionally small Hong Kong room. We had a City view which is to say basically nothing to look at. The Breakfast Buffet is quite nice, but the same thing every day. The quality of the food was good it just would have been nice if there were some changes day to day (but most hotels fall into this trap). The WiFi is expensive (time for hotels to stop charging for WiFi) and you could only have 2 devices connected. They had a good trio singing in the lobby bar at night and one night we did spend a few hours listening to them.

Been here once before and was really happy with the overall experience. My wife and I stayed here for 12 days this time around and found the experience so so.
Highlights were:
Housekeeping was fantastic and thorough. Water pressure is amazing!Location is great as it was before. Front desk was quick, efficient and very friendly.

Drawbacks were:
Didn't sleep well as the bed seemed rather short for a king size and my feet had to hang over. Lack of plug ins, air con wasn't doing much other than make a lot of noise. The fact that wifi or hardlined Internet wasn't free or at the very least a reasonable price.
The biggest pet peeve was trying to get onto a shuttle to the Hong Kong station for the airport express.
As the driver was trying to get our luggage on and politely ask the other passengers to move their luggage off the seats so other passengers could sit, a manager of some sort came out and yelled at the poor driver in Cantonese to forget about the luggage and let the passengers figure it out. Apparently the shuttle was a minute late past departure!
I really wish I was able to get that managers name to personally complain. That was quite rude and unnecessary.
Next time I'm in Hong Kong I won't be so quick to stay at the Harbour Plaza until I research other options first.

I stayed here for almost a week.

Pros:
Nice location, just opposite to Quarry Bay station
Reasonably priced not exactly cheap
Clean and well maintained rooms

Cons:
Poor service, staff are brusque and almost to the point of rude
Room temperature is either too cold and well the hot option didn't work. Temperature control just doesn't work! Some others mentioned the same problem too.
Beds are bit short, if you are around 6ft and above, it's not comfortable
Internet, too expensive that too only 2 devices & not that stable. Matters especially for business travelers
Hardly any convenient power points to recharges phones, cameras, laptops etc
Even the ironing board provided was shaky, maybe you think its minor, but a pain to use!

My husband and I stayed here with our 7 yr old son and they upgraded us for free to a suite with a separate bedroom so that we could spread out. This was much appreciated as we were on the home leg of a long trip. As a result, floor 22 and a terrific harbour view! Loads of space and all well-appointed. Lovely bathroom with a spacious, well-pressurised shower. Happy Hour in the bar was most enjoyable with the live music and free nibbles. We stayed 3 nights and ate in house each night. Would recommend the chinese restaurant on the next level up from reception. Share! We ordered a dish each and couldn't complete!
Free shuttles ran hourly to the shopping areas and the ferry to Kowloon (as well as return) which was great.
Fabulous staff. A real pleasure to have stayed here

Room Tip: If you can get a harbour view it is definitely worth i.
