“Basic expectations not met”

The location of this hotel makes it ideal for a quck stopover in HK, as the hotel is just a short walk (all indoors) from the terminal. When you are arriving late at night, you want a quick check in, prompt room service to give the kids a quick bite to eat before sleep, and a quiet room. The Regal got 1 out of 3 on this. Room service was slow - probably ok by normal standards, but frustrating after midnight. Noise from the bathroom of the adjacent room was intrusive. Check in was quick, and check out in the morning was also swift.

I stayed at his hotel many times. The best thing going for this hotel is location. Very conveniently located at airport, with just a short walk from the terminals. Wi-FI is sometime included but that is often with higher price stay. Expect to pay US$250 per night. Buffet breakfast is excellent and always included in this hotel’s very high price.

My company booked my stay for 5 weeks in this hotel in Aug-Sept 2013. The major plus point for this hotel is that it is attached to the airport main building via a corridor which means the passenger doesnt have to board any bus or cab or train to reach the hotel from airport. Given that Hong Kong International also doubles up as a shopping mall, so this gives Regal Airport a really good location to be in.
On the negatives, it is almost always too busy and the hotel management only has one reception desk for new customers and already checked-in customers. This creates a really messy situation for the already checked-in customers as for even minor things you have to stand in a long line!
The help over the phone is not great and you invariably have to go to reception to get work done. The room service and house keeping is just about okay.
My most peev point was the room access card which stops working every 4th day and no matter how much I told them, pleaded with them or fought with them to make it work till the time i am booked to stay, it just never happened despite assurances! And this always took me to that dreaded reception area. The final checkout took a long time due to same dreaded reception area and I was fortunate that I had some time at my disposal or else what might have happened!!
Another negative is that the hotel management doesnt take criticism or suggestions too kindly. They just want to work as per their own might. Seems they are too smug beacuse of their location which tends to give them good business.

I stayed at this hotel with a friend on the way to China. We had to wait for our flight the next day and so it was very convenient to stay here and not have to carry luggage across Hong Kong. We walked over from the airport, checked in, settled in our luxiurious room. It was better than what I was expecting, very comfortable, very clean. We then took the fast train to Kowloon.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again and highly recommend it even for a longer stay. The breakfast was to die for. It is the best I have ever had. So many foods of different cultures and beautifully presented.

Room Tip: Rooms are well sized for 2 people.

My family and I have stayed at this hotel on many occasions and if you do not like the incredibly busy atmosphere of the hotels in Kowloon and Hong Kong then it is a great option. You can walk to the hotel from the airport in a few minutes and there is good transportation by the express trains or taxis. There are many restaurants in the airport and City Gate shopping centre is less than 10 minutes away by the free hotel shuttle bus that runs regularly every 30 minutes.
Facilities are excellent and the staff are incredibly respectful, friendly and helpful. I have not tried the spa but the Japanese restaurant there is superb and good value.

I've stayed at the Regal Airport Hotel at least a half dozen time in the past few years. Over that time, I've seen a pleasant improvement in the hotel's service. Its location, of course, cannot be beat. It is at the airport itself (not merely "near" the airport) and only a 5 minute stroll from the airport's Arrivals Hall. The location thus is a major reason I had stayed at the hotel, particularly when I was using HKG as a transfer point for a late-evening arrival from the U.S. and an early-morning flight to elsewhere in Southeast Asia.

At one time, the hotel's great location out-weighed some of the hotel's drawbacks -- which have received comment on TripAdvisor. But that now has changed. The drawbacks have been addressed, as there has been a welcome increase in the Regal's level of service, comfort, hospitality and friendliness.

To be sure, my most recent stay -- on December 11 -- may not be typical of all travelers. Because I had booked a suite, upon arrival at the hotel I went directly to the 11th floor's club-level check-in. Thus I suffered no lines for checking in or checking out. My suite, with a separate sitting area with a terrific desk, was large, comfortable and offered both a bath and high-powered shower. The lounge, meanwhile, is a terrific benefit. It is large and nicely-furnished. It serves not only a very good breakfast, but drinks and snacks in the evening. Its staff is friendly and cheerful -- and, above all, competent.

I had a few minor problems, and the hotel solved them quickly. Though the wifi signal in my room, for instance, was strong, I had initial difficulty in getting internet connections. I reported this to the front desk and within minutes the problem s solved -- and this was at midnight.

I'll be returning to HGK airport in several months, again for connecting flights. I now actually will look forward to staying at the Regal.

Could not ask for a better location if you are waiting for a connecting flight. Prepay for fast and easy checkout. No taxi required to and from the airport. It is connected to the terminal and is only a 5 to 10 m covered walk inside.
