This was the first stop on our three week honeymoon and boy what a place to start. From the minute we arrived we were treated like royalty, all of the staff without exception were incredibly friendly and helpful. We stayed in a deluxe harbour view room which was spectacular, the view was amazing and the room and amenities were fabulous. The room even had a dvd player and printer with software for you to download onto your computer. They had thought of everything.
On check-in I was presented with a small bouquet of flowers and we were asked to pose for a picture which was later presented to us in a card which had been signed by the staff. Late morning they sent a pot of chinese tea to our room for us to enjoy and then that evening we were sent a half bottle of moet, some chocolates and another card. Talk about spoiling us. I can honestly say we have never experienced service like it, truly wonderful.
When we return to Hong Kong we will definitely be staying in the Kowloon Shangri-La.

excellent hotel with superb location. the views from this hotel are really exceptional and the floor to ceiling windows are like an ever changing painting, furthermore the rooms are larger than similar hotels in hong kong with very good facilities - the food was good and in particular the breakfast. overall very good and would definitely come back,

We have been staying at the Kowloon Shangri-la for more than 20 years. We arrived at the Shangri-la on 13th June 2010, for 5 nights. The lobby is awesome and is scented and smells absolutely gorgeous.
The rooms are amongst the largest in Hong Kong. In fact they are in the process of being renovated. We had booked a Horizon Club city view room and where shown a superior room over looking the garden that had been renovated just a few month’s ago. It was excellent with a 40" flat screen televisions, standard Ipod dock, the beds are great and the bathroom is large and spacious with a rain forest shower. The coffee shop known as Cafe Cool is newly renovated and has a great breakfast buffet.
The real plus point of the hotel is it's location, opposite the underground station and 10 minutes walk from the star ferry. The pool is very small and the fitness room is passable but is fine for what is needed. It is a 5 minute walk to the busy shopping district of Nathan road.
Who ever is reading this review and is thinking of booking a stay at the Kowloon Shangri-la, don't think- just book it. You wont regret it

Regarding The Hotel : Awesome Location, The Rooms Facing The harbour give u a pleasent & calm evening. The amazing interiors, such a granduer and yet so very peaceful :-)

The hotel Staff is also very amiable and always greeting you with the smile and ready to help at a sight of discomfort on the face of guest, giving absolutely no reason to worry,
At one occassion one of our group members left their wallet full of $1000 on the hotel bed, the same was reported to us by the hotel authorities :-)
all in all a highly recommendable hotel

The service of some of the staff like doorman, was good. The reception was a little bit late and the rooms are not provided in time. They refuse to give the room before 1.00 pm, even-though I arrived by 8.00 AM. The upkeep of the room hardware was not right The food was OK.

Its my 4th night staying here now. I booked the Horizon club harbour view. Amazing view from the ceiling to floor windows. Convenient to travel.

Very good service bythe concierge, door guys and all. However, what I didnt like was. The moment we entered the room and put the bags down, my kids switched on the TV, and the very first thing they saw was a porno programme going on with 3 women doing a threesome. Its only when they said YUCKS that we realised what they saw. We switched it off and called the reception.

Well, the technical guys came and again, they on the TV and saw a guy banging a girl...gosh... they took time to get rid of it..well other than that ..all was fine. ..I find that the Cafe Kool doesnt have a very great variety of food. Especially the club lounge for the breakfast dishes.

What I really loved about the hotel was the helpfulness and courtesy of the staff.

The hotel had a tour which I took, they brought us to the Man Mo temple ( very smoky ) nothing great, they took us to the Peak,,beautiful,,, but they were rushing everyone. They had a trip to the Fishing Village & Jewellery factory which was a waste of time, especially with the hot weather.
They took us to the Stanley Market as well. Seems the same as Singapore's Chinatown,,nothing too great. I went to Temple Street today ..it was better, nice stuff for souveniers. Also went to Ocean Park, the kids really enjoyed but the timing of the rides is very short.

I wanted to eat Indian food, and I find that the quality of Indian food is not good compared to the Indian food In Singapore, especially the Naans. However, just opposite the Hotel ,where there was a Mcdonalds ( thats my landmark ) lol... there was a India restaurant called The New Sangeet. Defifnitely better than Woodlands and the rest. Good ambience as well.

Overall nice experience..

When I first started staying at the Kowloon Shangri-La several years ago, it was dated and in desperate need of a facelift. It was so bad, in fact, that I stopped staying at the Shangri-La and started staying at the Kowloon Intercontinental even though the Shangri-La is next door to the office.

I have returned to the Shangri-La this trip to give the renovated hotel a second chance. Although the entire hotel is not renovated yet, the room I stayed in was. They have decorated the spacious room with high end materials which include light woods and leather, as well as well placed mirrors to give the room an even larger feel. Well done! The bathrooms are all marble with a huge shower and ample counter space. Overall, a very comfortable space. This is still a step down from the Intercontinental, though, as they do not have the little details like an iPod docking stations, or in-room Bose stereos, but this renovation has made the Shangri-La a viable and less expensive alternative.

The service, though, is on par with the Intercontinental. I was greeted at the door and processed in my room rather than at the front desk. My dry cleaning came back the same day even though I did not request it and the room service is quick and the food is very good. Shangri-La Hotels are known, though, for their buffets and the Kowloon never disappointed. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, you will be impressed.

Although Hong Kong Island may have all the touristy spots like The peak and Stanley Market, Kowloon has the best shopping and food. You can get everything in Kowloon from high end shops to the Ladies Market - from 5 star restaurants to Kowloon street food - and the Shangri-La is located right in the middle of it all.

So the verdict is that the new, renovated Shangri-La is worth a look - particularly if the price is right!
