Our family stayed at this hotel mid August for 4 days, from the check in to check out this really is an exquisite hotel the room decor are lush and overall feel of this hotel is very five star,it's a very elegant hotel attention is all in fine detail from the the room down to the lobby the staff very attentive we had a late flight into Hong Kong after we checked in they sent up cookies and milk for our very tired children! We didn't even have to ask ! The children went for a quick dip in the pool the following morning we forgot the armbands some were produced on the spot ! Service is this hotel is nothing short of excellent.
There are a few restaurants in this hotel along with a main breakfast buffet place all the food was of a good quality we had breakfast in the club room one morning and that was a very elegant affair this hotel has a touch of class and was much appreciated!
We also had high tea one afternoon this was the only point where it was a bit of a let down the food was a bit below par however this is a great hotel they even change the rugs in the lifts everyday to the appropriate day of the week, this hotel if you can afford it is a must when in Hong Kong, the metro is also very accessible literally 5mins take the lifts down to the mall and the mrt is there and Victoria peak tram is a 5min walk away through the park, so good location too.
This hotel has been around a few decades so is beginning to look a tad tired but still opulent.

Room Tip: High floors give fab views of Hong Kong

Our family stay at the Island Shangri-La Hotel was amazing. From the moment we arrived they treated us with the greatest respect and friendliness. No request was an inconvenience and the staff were exceptionally friendly and pleasant. Ms Mary Ma in Guest Relations helped arrange transport, currency and dinner bookings for us at short notice and her recommendations gave us the low down on all the sights and experiences in Hong Kong. The Hotel itself is magnificient and it was difficult to drag our selves away from the in-house facilities when it came time to sight see!!!
It is one of the best hotels I have stayed in for businesss or pleasure.

Room Tip: We had 3 rooms and each had a different exceptional view ... the higher floors are spectacular

Yes, you still get the nice pot of tea in your room upon check-in, and there are some stand-out staff, but this "one time gem" is now just another crowded, cold business hotel in a very competitive space. I used to be a loyal guest, but a recent stay will cause me to return to the newer properties like the Four Seasons. Staff seem to be just too busy to care and be warm. The clientele has changed and it has lost its charm. And what 5-star (including the other Shangri-La's!!) does not provide at least two bottles of shampoo (one for shower, one for bath)? Sounds snooty, I know, but if I want budget amenities, I will pay budget prices. I recommend that savvy travelers check out the other 5-stars on Hong Kong Island.

Room Tip: Upgrade to Horizon Club and enjoy a nice lounge and great breakfast away from the noisy masses

Stayed at Island Shangri-La for a business trip and the hotel staff was very attentive right from arrangement of the trip.

The rooms are big and clean, mine was a peak facing room, fantastic view. There are also lots of nice touches - a warm pot of chinese tea in the room upon arrival, complimentary chocolates.

Staff are generally very helpful and attentive! Great service!

Checking-in at Shangri-La Hong-Kong is a true pleasure: very nice welcome, efficient check-in process. I was proposed an upgrade at the desk which I gladly accepted as it was quite a good deal. My room was facing the peak but that was still a nice view. The whole room atmosphere is great, even if the size of the room is nothing unusual. Turn-down and service of the room in the morning were both on time and very well done.
Good gym for this kind of hotel. The lounge for breakfast is on the top floor and you can enjoy both a great breakfast and a breath-taking view.
Location is great as you can access any location in Central / Wan Chai within 5-10 minutes, either by taxi, by MTR or even by tram that you can access through the nearby shopping centre.
A great experience again!

Room Tip: Try to get a view on the city...but pretty hard to get!

I have been staying 10 nights every February for the last 3 years to attend a regional conference. The check-in is superb and efficient and the quality of the rooms are very high standard and also with a pot of tea welcoming you into the room.

The staff are very attentive and the buffet breakfast is one of the best I have had compared to many hotels in Asia. They have great food and great service but unfortunately of late the barrage of wealthy Chinese tourist has made the morning breakfast time into a bit of a market place, but nonetheless stil a great breakfast place with the great service.

The small attention to details by the staff are appreciated and the quality of the rooms are very good. As it is located in the upper levels, hence you will always need a cab to travel to other parts of town or even the nearest MTR station but if you enjoy a good morning brisk walk down the hill, you can reach Central in 15 minutes.

Still one of the best hotels in Hong Kong despite so many new upcoming hotels.
