“Ok stay”
Reviewed January 4, 2013 via mobile

1532 was the room I was allocated following an arrival into hong king on New Year's Eve. The room is functional and I was able to get a good nights sleep in the comfortable double bed. The harbour view is limited from the window but many people flooded out into the street to glimpse the fireworks.
We met in the dickens bar just off the hotel lobby. The atmosphere was lively and many people were enjoying the British style food on offer. Beer at 73 hkg dollars per pint is quite expensive. Many people let the bar after happy hour had finished. Even while sat at the bar , the service staff were never proactive at offering refills. Not a loss to me , more to the bar takings, as after waiting ten mins for a refill and being continually ignored by a succession of bar servers , I went back to my room and the beers I had sourced from the local 7-11
. On the night off I ordered rom service of seafood with noodles. The noodles were hard and crispy , a fact pointed out when I ordered. The dish was tasty , hot and delivered within 25 minutes. Maybe the softer type noodles would have been better for this dish. None the less , it was filling and very good value.
The room overall was good for my stay. There were sufficient suitably placed wall plugs and an adaptor for non HK appliances. The location as mentioned by other posters, is really good. The mrt is 5 minutes away from the hotel.

I had a 150% satisfactory stay at the Excelsior. I was impressed before arrival with the helpfulness of the phone and e-mail communication, probably the best I have received, ever, from any hotel (and I travel a lot).
Loved the comfortable room, not huge size but sufficient for a 3 people party (couple and kid on a roller bed). Loved the amazing Victoria Bay views (also from the roofdeck TOTS bar), the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. The concierge got us a same-day reservation at a top restaurant, View 62 (highly recommended).
Location was excellent in the heart of Causeway Bay, next to a commercial area (both high-end and traditional shopping) and the super-efficient Metro MTR, but also close to the airport highway. Free shuttle to the fast Airport train station. Despite being in a busy area, rooms are sound proof, I had a great sleep.
I highly recommend this hotel to couples or families with 1 kid who want to spend the day sightseeing and want to return to a comfortable haven. Price was notr cheap, but reasonable for the value.

Good points:
- excellent staff
- great for shopping or business

Poor points
- tourists probably better off on Kowloon side
- central lobby has very limited space so feels like a railway station
- hotel rooms and corridors desperately needs updating and redecorating
- building works in front of hotel
- thin walls so you are disturbed by neighbour's TV

The hotels strong points are the great location and fabulous roof top bar (TOTT's) .
We were lucky enough to spend New Years eve here. They hosted a fabulous band from Australia. I must mention the lead singer Natalie and guitarist Pete who had the most incredible voices. The hotel food including the wide ranging buffets were delicious.

The hotel is trusted, rooms are consistently good. It employs great staff. I'd strongly recommend it for a short stay in Hong Kong.

Perfect location, decent rates. Room size was average, comfortable. It's starting to feel dated but not old. About a 5-7 mins walk to Times Square. minute to Sogo and the Mtr. Don't bother paying for bfast cause ur in Hong Kong and there's great cheap food everywhere. Only catch out for us is theres no pool on site and they send you down the road, (Public I think). Could have killed for a swim after one of the hotter days. Service was great, friendly, very helpful and knowledgeable.

Small welcome gift for our toddler was a nice surprise too.

The location is fantastic! So it's perfect for a holiday trip where you intend to be out of the hotel the whole time and only back to drop your shopping, freshen up and rest :)

That's why while the rooms are smaller (decent by HK standards) and some decoration needs to be updated/refreshed, it doesn't really matter, as you'll be too busy enjoying Hong Kong!

Excelsior provides really good value!

Its close to everything you need! Shopping malls like World Trade Center (uniqlo and muji), Sogo, Windsor house are less than 10 minutes away. There's also Wellcome, Mannings, Pricerite, Aeon and other supermarkets. Have a variety of Hong Kong Style breakfasts by walking down the street at the back of World Trade. Highly rated restaurants abound around the area near the hotel. An Mtr stop is just under Sogo.

As for the rooms, we got a partial bay view, with king sized bed. The room looked renovated since I last stayed there. Beds are comfy and room service was very efficient. The concierge was also very helpful in showing us how to get to our destinations. Will definitely stay there again.
