Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong

I have stayed here a few times over the years. Definitely a treat for me . . almost affordable luxury but worth it. (Actually average price for a 5star hotel in HK.) For this category of hotel, attentive staff, high quality amenities (Hermes) and beautiful rooms are expected and I wasn't disappointed. The room was a good size and nicely arranged. Even though the hotel sits in an area of one of the most expensive real estates in the world, the rooms are a decent size starting from the smallest studio at 344 to 430 sq ft for a standard room. This is before going into the suite which range from anywhere around 1000 -3000 sq ft. The hotel underwent a huge renovation which aimed to maintain the old world charm but to update the internals such as state of the art sounds systems and wonderful bathroom areas. All rooms have a Nespresso machine with complimentary capsules as well as tea.
Location is in the heart of the main business and shopping district of Central. Walk up the hill to Lan Kwai Fong for night entertainment and restaurants. For those more intrepid walk up the hill a bit more and come to Hong Kong's SOHO (south of Hollywood Rd).
I would definitely come back as I have done over the years. I thought it was high time I wrote about how enjoyable my stays have been. Thank you everyone at the Mandarin.

Mandarin Oriental is the grande dame, a proper place to stay while on business in Hong Kong. On my first visit to this Central hotel I was upgraded to a superior category. My room had fabulous views of nearby towers from HKG's iconic skyline. Hermès Jardin du Nil amenities, bien sûr - et merci! Thoroughly comfortable bed as well as an equally nap-inducing chaise longue in the work area. Facial mist or other thoughtful gesures greeted me upon return from the business day. Every night I dined at the Cafe Causette with its extensive menu/wine list. In-room breakfast was on-time and observed quality standards. I could write an essay about the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong because at this hotel no detail is left out.

Could not ask for a more central location in Central. This is definitely a luxury hotel. However, the lobby is not at of a 5* hotel. Seems chaotic, and simple. Rooms are beautifully furnished, and the cheaper rooms are very small with low ceilings. Even the larger rooms are not that large. Breakfast is fine, and expensive. Dd not have pancakes or waffles or French toast, which is surprising given the high price. The restaurant is open to the lobby which takes away from the luxury feel. Service is outstanding as expected.

Room Tip: Not all corner rooms are big. Ask for front facing the water.

I was at the MO for three nights and was blown away by the outstanding service at every point of engagement. Absolutely flawless! Every single employee was competent and exuded a warm hospitality. Every detail was managed to perfection!

Room Tip: Harbor view rooms are a real treat!

A very nice hotel on the high end in an expensive market. To pay over $700 per night and then have to pay for WiFi is a poor business practice.
The facility is first class, the service is good and the location is hard to beat.

Spent about 3 hours at this bar. Great place. Lively, good crowd, prompt service, fantastic ambience. Epitomises what one expects from Mandarin. I would recommedn sitting at the bar, rather than the table

Room Tip: Whetehr alone or with friends - a great place

One of the best hotels in HK. HAve stayed here a few time on business. Rooms are very sepcial: modern but with huge feel and great asian finish, quite nice colonial touches as well, liked the service box linking room to outside world. Food choices in hotel are amazing. really great steak house, good mid range chinese, must be about 7 places in all. Main Bar great has egnuine athmosphere and can get interesting late when the well lubricated foreigners meet the locals. Little touchs make this place an institution, like having a tailor in the hotel, as well as a great mens barber, proper old school but also great service.
only small gripe is the pool. very nicely done but small compared to most places and has no external view which is a shame. Spa just ok for 5 star.
Location very good, nice walk to business part of central
