“Good location, big room but bad service”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

Marcopolo HK hotel disappointed me and I will never stay there again.

I stayed at Marcopolo HK hotel during 2/13~2/15. The first impression of this hotel was great location and room is spacious in Hk standard. This was supposed to be a great trip but this hotel ruined the whole trip in the end.

After staying the first night, my son started to have skin allergy on the face and wrist. Although, both me and my wife had nothing wrong on our skin. We thought he had some food allergy but in fact he did not allergy to anything else before. We didn't take it seriously. However, the third day, my son's allergy got worse and we have to go to the doctor.

The doctor (referred by the hotel) said my son is allergy to something in the hotel, might be the pillow or carpet. I asked for some document for this and the doctor refused. I guess the doctor is afraid that I might sued the hotel. The clinic charged me 280 HKD. not so much actually.

We went back to the hotel and complained to the hotel manager. Try to tell him that the carpet and pillow cost my son's sick. The manager is always smiling but avoid to be blamed. He insist that it never happened before. We communicate for a while and found out he is not going to do anything to this event. We eventually gave up because we are not those kind of person that ask for compensation.

But at least the hotel should "try" to pay for our clinic fee. After all, we spend almost 3000 HKD per night. 280 HKD was like a 10% discount to our room charge and he is not even trying.

Marcopolo HK hotel disappointed me and I will never stay there again.

Room Tip: Sea view is very good!

Whenever we go to Kowloon, HK this hotel is always our preferred choice. It is located on Canton road where u could find many shops to please your shopping spree. The metro/subway is in a walking distance leading u to various destinations. The hotel room itself is spacious for 3 pax even on a deluxe room type but this time we were upgraded to the executive club floor. Winter time is one of recommended season to visit HK as the temperature is not high and festive celebration like the Western countries could be seen and experienced here.

First time in HK. If you are looking for location, this is the place. Convenient to everything...especially every means of transportation, even the doormen out front can nab you a taxi at a moment's notice...comfortable, clean room, helpful staff...Canton Road is very crowded, but welcome to Hong Kong!

Room Tip: Dont bother with the breakfast buffet...over priced.

First time with them in HK. Let mr start off with what I like about this place:

1. Location
- 3 mins to Star Ferry so that makes it easy as breeze to go to Hk island for not more than HKD 2!!!
- next to harbour city (an enormous shopping mall with more than 500 stores and 200 restaurants)
- 10mins to MTR (further than Mira)
- airport to hotel HKD 260 ; good for pairs and triple sharing
- there is a direct bus opposite hotel next to Piaget that brings you to Ocean Park and Stanley.
- near Hankow road there are plenty of local restaurants at good prices
- 10mins to high tea at the famous Peninsula Hotel
- near HK Art Museum, Ave of Stars, Symphony of Lights so good for tourists

2. Rooms
- extremely spacious at 43sqm
- huge bathroom

3. Rates
-HKD 1000++ per night
- extremely good value

What I think can be improved

- low quality toiletries
- room decor looks a bit tired
- toilet is also looking in need of a good scrub
- small swimming pool, not much other facilities

I would return to this hOtel if The Mira is not available. Is a good value 4* hotel especially in such a nice location!

Absolutely perfect location with Star Ferry, subway etc at your door. We stayed in a harbour view room which was spectaculr had very well sized (plently of room for a roll away for our 11 year old). Staff were beyond helpful and extremely pleasant. Room was spotless and house keeping couldn't be faulted. Highly recommended.

Stayed for 3 nights in January at the Club Floor. Guest relations were excellent room was bright and comfy. Excellent location for a bit of shopping. Except the crowds at Canton Road can be a nightmare.
