“Neat and modern - location slightly 'out of central' plus make or break it for you”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2013 via mobile

Great hotel - rooms are very accurately portrayed as all other guest photos. Compact but not cramped and modern, clean, great showers.

Service from everyone was friendly, welcoming and helpful. Good selection of food at breakfast/ great food at onsite restaurant (not a compromise if you feel like a night closer to your bed after a long day site seeing!)

Price - competitive for Hong Kong Island. Would definitely stay again bit only if price remained a good deal.

So - location. This is the thing I think would make or break for some people. Firstly - HK is easy and cheap to get around by the many taxi's that are simply everywhere. The price of a taxi compared to other world cities is very cheap. So this is always an option whether you are over in Kowloon or on the island.

To get to soho to central - walking is a good half an hour and to get beyond (wan chi / happy valley) you would definitely want transport. There are frequent buses and trams - very easy to understand and hop on. These take about 10 mins to central depending on traffic.

The area itself - you are right over in the western side of Hong Kong Island. The fact that you are away from the main tourist drag makes it more of an experience of a 'real hong kong'. More local shops servicing local needs. So it adds even more context and understanding to a long weekend.

If you are here for a night on a stop-over you might want to consider somewhere more central, just to cut down on a bit of travel time. That said - if the price is right - it really isn't a problem as you can get taxis... Roughly a taxi from airport express/ central to hotel cost about 35-40 HK dollars.

To us - the fact that the hotel was so lovely, our room was so comfortable and had a high finish - our four night stay was made more enjoyable by a location that was 'a bit out of it'. If you like being right in the middle of the main centre of a tourist hub or nervous about depending on taxis and public transport to get around - this is not for you.

Great price and nice rooms. The view can't be beat! There are several hotels you can chose from, but this one took the cake in terms of affordability, worth every dime, and the rooms exceeded the expectations we had.

We will be sad to leave Traders tomorrow after a one week stay. Helpful, friendly staff, well-equipped bedroom with good shower and comfortable bed, safe area with interesting small Chinese shops. Well worth paying extra for Club room on high floor with excellent breakfast included, plus free drinks and snacks 5.30 to 7.30daily. Free shuttle to ferries and Central. Taxis are plentiful and inexpensive. A very good hotel.

Room Tip: Club room.

I stayed here for a total of three days while visiting Hong Kong on short notice. They had nice rooms at a reasonable rate. The room was clean and comfortable. Service was excellent. Easy taxi to LKF.

Had just returned from a holiday in Hongkong. Stayed at Traders hotel Hk for 4 nights and it's a pleasant stay. The staff goes an extra mile to arrange 2 rooms on the same high level. The rooms are very well maintained and kudos to the housekeeping staff! Convenient shuttle bus to and from mtr! Will definitely stay there again!

We stayed for a short break in September and we liked it. The room was bigger than some we had stayed in at other hotels in HK and the lobby, bars and rooftop pool are all pleasant. Prices in the bar were usual for hotels, which is to say, explore and you will find things of equal quality much more cheaply nearby. We didn't try the restaurant although the concierge told us that the film actor Chow Yun Fat likes it (though why that should commend it...?!) Staff were helpful and friendly.

For us, though, the location was a little too far out of town. We found some nice cake shops and congee places for breakfast, not to mention a really handy shoulder massage and refloxology salon (there are lots) but no dim sum, and while there's a shuttle going into town, coming back late at night usually means a long trek. This is maybe just our personal preference though: we stayed downtown last time and were spoiled with everything being nearby, including transport to visit other islands. We'd stay here again but only because we have a relative who lives close to QRW.

Nice hotel with friendly and efficient staff.
It's located in an older part of HK but still close enough to central. The shuttle bus from the hotel to central came in handy. We paid for the club floor which included free drinks and finger food between 5pm to 0730pm in the club lounge. The rooms are fairly small, I don't think I would want to stay in them for more than a week. It would become claustrophobic. The gym is ok, made better by the awesome harbour view. Breakfast was adequate. Wouldn't pay more than $130US/ night for it..
Beware of the Chinese restaurant across the road. Rip off...

Room Tip: Get a room with harbour view...
