Whilst this hotel is not in the heart of things for a tourist, the tram is conveniently located to take you into Central. Make sure you enjoy the view from the lounge. The noodle dishes we ate there were some of the best we had on our trip in Asia.

Nice hotel for the value. Staff was very attentive, and listened to our request. I would highly recommend staying here if you are in HK. Location is a little limited if you are looking for a place close to the MTR, but can be managed if you take a taxi.

This was not my first choice hotel, but I was not disappointed. I booked a deal where I got access to their lounge, with good canapes and drinks available. Small pool, which was good for a quick dip, although it was pretty chilly. Great choice for breakfast - there was a large group of people having breakfast at the same time (all for the same conference elsewhere in Hong Kong) but they managed it well, and apart from a short wait for eggs-on-demand (which were done perfectly as I'd asked for every time) it was well organised and the choice was good. Comfortable bed and good service from the front desk. Recommended.

The hotel it self has everything you do need to make it a great stay...nice bar on the 28th floor, pool on roof top...gym...spacious room, good room service, lots of shops and restaurants around. But somehow the location in the west of the island is not really that convenient. There are bus and tram lines on the Des Voeux West Road, which is just parallel (opposite) to the hotels street Queens West Road and the bus stop is at Hill street...take any tram to the direction Sheung Wan or the bus 5B or 5X...there are even other lines...then u can get urself back into the pulsating life of the city. Better buy the octopus card, u can use it for all transportation as well as for shopping in convenient stores. There is also a free shuttle bus service from the central airport express station (island) to the hotel (doesnt cost a dime), which u can use in both ways. The cheap way of getting to the airport is the bus line A10 (bus stop at hill street / Des Voeux West Road...just 40HKD..its fast and convenient too. If the hotel would be somehow cheaper, it could be an option to stay away from the little more expensive centre...

Room Tip: high floor is best to get a better view over the buildings on the opposite side of Queens West Rd.

I stayed here from the 29th of December 2012 till the 1st of January 2013 as a couple. The hotel is located in the Western District or known to the locals as "Sai Wan". It is approximately 30 minutes from the airport and a taxi ride would cost approximately HKD320.

Though there isn't a MTR station (subway) nearby, there is a tram station less than a minute away from the hotel. The rooms are spacious and extremely clean. The staffs are helpful as well.

Indeed the hotel isn't located at a prime location (compared to Causeway Bay or Central) however it is definitely a value for money hotel.

Room Tip: If you're fussy about the view, opt for the harbour view rooms because with the city view rooms...

Don't be put off by the location, Traders is just a 10 minute tram or bus away from Central. You are smack dab in a piece of history as well, as this area known as "Shek Tong Tsui" was very much the heart of the red-light district in the 50's and 60's. Not now of course, but it still exemplifies a typical urban neighbourhood in Hong Kong to the T.

Traders Hotel itself has an unusually warm and helpful staff, I suppose credit due to the Shangri-La training regimen. But with 24-hour 7-11's just downstairs, and a host of local diners and coffee shops, this is a great place to experience Hong Kong much like those who live here day-to-day. The room is fine, small, as are all HK hotel rooms, but everything you need is provided. Whatever's missing, the staff are quick to provide with a smile, a trait that may be small but means a lot to me.

One personal note, the 2/F all day dining, called Café Malacca, has some of the best authentic Malaysian and Singaporean food I've tried anywhere in HK.

I would definitely not hesitate to stay here again. Satisfied.

Room Tip: As high a floor as possible, as it's a congested district of high rises

The Traders Hotel is reasonably priced ,clean, with comfortable rooms and good friendly service. Situated in Western region HK island its only drawback is that it is just a little off the beaten track if you wish to explore on foot.
