I was lucky enough to get this hotel after searching one whole day online for a big enough place for myself, my hubby and my mum to stay in a room. I am glad I did not waste my effort searching for a good hotel. As most of the hotels in Hong Kong are small and expensive, I am lucky to find this hotel, as the room is new, clean and spacious. Sleeping quality is great in this hotel. According to my hubby, who is working in the M&E line, told me that he was amazed that there are so many water sprinklers in the room, showing that the hotel is very safety conscious. The bathroom is also very big and comfortable with a bathtub, and a separate cubicle for toilet and another for shower. The room is still spacious even with an additional bed arranged in the room for my mum. The TV is big enough for the space and many international channels to watch.
The staffs were very courteous, especially the cleaners. They were very willing to clean our room when one of the days we did not give instruction for them to go into our room to do cleaning works and until we were back then we asked them to come. They did not show any sign of unhappiness and even do it with a smile and kept on asking anything else we need their service. That was very good! One thing quite disappointed is their buffet breakfast, we ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant one morning, I found that the variety was not many. Taste was so so only. But we had ordered room service, and food was not bad.
Many said that this hotel is very faraway, to me, it is definitely not far as 20 to 30 mins for MTR ride is very common in Singapore. To Hong Kong island Causeway bay is only a mere 25mins and Hong Kong MTR system is very efficient, so the travel time is not an issue for staying in this hotel. If you are lazy to go to far, you may want to go and shop in the shopping malls next to the hotel. We regretted too much to shop in the malls next to it, one is the popcorn mall, known as one of the many MTR malls in Hong Kong. There were so many restaurants and fashion shops to shop but we only found out on the last day before we were leaving Hong Kong. Luckily we managed to try a few of the restaurants such as, Tim Ho Wan dim sum(Famous Dim Sum restaurant which many Singaporean are crazy about), Victoria Harbour restaurant, Super star seafood restaurant etc.
The environment around the hotel was not bad too. As one of the reviewers had mentioned, there is a park nearby and you can see the residents doing exercise, chitchatting and strolling in the park. We took the airport bus from airport to the hotel when we reached Hong Kong, and we had got down too early, and the people we met were so friendly and helpful, telling us to go through the park to get to the hotel. The feeling in this place is totally different from the usual tourist attraction we had been to in Hong Kong and it brightened our first day in Hong Kong.
As we had bought many things in Hong Kong, we had no choice to take a taxi to airport on the last day, it cost us HK$300 plus (approximately S$60). That is quite a lot but if you only travel with a small luggage, you can also take MTR or Airport bus(*HK$24 per pax) to airport and that was very cheap.
Overall, Crowne Plaza Hong Kong Kowloon East is a nice hotel, and we will definitely come back again. Hope it can maintain it's good service as well as remain affordable rates for tourists.
