“Small but very nice”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Tiny room but perfectly formed. The interior was spotless and modern, massive tv & nice lighting & free wifi. The bathroom was clean with a great shower. We were on the 22nd floor and had good views into the city & Victoria Park. The only downside was no breakfast but we found a good cafe - 18 grams - just a short walk through the park into the Causeway Bay shopping area. The park is lovely to walk though in the morning, lots of people exercising etc. There's a tram that stops just outside the hotel and an underground station close by as well. We bought octopus cards for the public transport then returned them for a full refund of the unused portion at the end of our trip!

Loved the location and the hotel. Just 2 min from Tin Hau MTR Station (A1 Exit) and next to the Hong Kong tram line and buses. Just east of Victoria Park and 5 min by tram (HKD 2.30) to the Causeway Bay fashion shopping district. Adjacent to the Tin Hau Food Square, with lots of variety - eg try the Ching Ching Deserts.

Loved this place and found the staff very helpful, with good English. The room was compact (but better than many we've tried in Hong Kong) and well laid out with a very modern theme. Very clean with the best shower we've had in a hotel for years - no water-saver dribble here. Has a good wifi system, good flat screen 40" tv, comfortable bed, decent blinds providing blackout, was very quiet (we were on the 12th floor) and good value for the price we paid.

We'll definately consider returning.

The Butterfly franchise is well-known in HK amongst people looking for a good deal, and for good reason too.

The Causeway Bay location is a stone's throw away from Tin Hau metro station which is just fantastic for accessing the whole city, and the immediate area has a number of good varied restaurants and even a few dinky pubs and cute shops.

The room was small but hey - so is every room in Hong Kong. What set this apart from everywhere else I've stayed in HK was the little details; the cuddly cushion on the bed greeting you when you arrive with a quirky message saying "I'm clean; hug me". The iPod-shaped guide to using the room & hotel. The amazing over-the-top energy of the staff and their strangely alluring sense of humour and care - particularly Grace, a real super-star.

Even though there isn't a restaurant, gym or pool in the hotel I highly recommend it for those staying on a budget.

2x iMacs are downstairs in the lobby, and there's wifi in the rooms free of charge too.

The bathroom is very nice too and don't worry - the frosted glass does indeed afford privacy in case you're paranoid!

All-in-all a great place for people on a budget, young travellers, anyone really. Truly fun - and that's difficult for a hotel to pull off without being confused with 'luxury' and other words that usually incur a high fee.

Room Tip: It's probably better to stay higher up; that way you can see more of the city. It may be better...

Located on Hong Kong Island this quality boutique hotel which is a 2 minute walk from Tin Hau MTR station is affordable and conveniently located to explore Hong Kong.

I stayed for 4 nights over new years in a room which was modern, comfortable, compact, clean and containing all the amenities that I required. It included a safe, free wifi, international adaptor, effective air conditioning, large tv with international channels and bottled water restocked daily.

This area of Causeway Bay appears to be a quieter part of HK but is a convenient location to base yourself. The nearby MTR station is frequent (every minute or 2) and you can be at Central station within 10 minutes, with easy access via MTR or ferry to Kowloon. I found being close to an MTR station the most effective way to see HK. Hotels in Hong Kong are also expensive.

Thanks to the staff who went beyond their duties in resolving a booking issue through an external site that meant my booking was never forwarded to the hotel. The staff were extremely understanding, liaised with the website, and despite being heavily booked made available a room for the same period under almost the exact same terms as I had previously booked. This positive experience made for a far more pleasant trip to HK. I would happily stay here again when I visit Hong Kong.

Stayed here for three nights in November 2012, the room was small, like all HK hotel rooms. I was travelling alone and my bag took most of the available floor space !
The bed was very comfortable, if a little short, I am only 5'10 and my feet were hanging over the edge ! Tea and coffee making facilities provided, with a safe and fridge in the room.
The reception is very clinical, the staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel has free wifi which was good and two computers in the lobby for guests to use. Excellent transport links with the Tin Hau MTR station just a two minute walk away and the airport bus stop nearby.
The hotel doesnt have a bar or restaurant but I found a very good local Chinese restaurant in the street at the side of the building, they had a menu in English and I ate there a couple of nights, two courses for around HK$50. I would stay here again if visiting HK island.

Reviewed December 9, 2012 via mobile

I stayed here for 9 nights in December 2013. After a good experience with their Wellington location near Central, I tried this one near Causeway Bay. The location is perfect since my office is nearby. The location is clean and friendly. As expected, the rooms are cozy, but well laid out so it had everything I needed, even a refrigerator. The small room also came with a large TV.

I recommend the Thai places around the corner and the Tin Hua MTR station is really close, as well as trams. I took a tram out to the Quarry road, which is a great walk up one of the many undeveloped hills. We also discovered a little shrine when we took the wrong path. Always nice to explore something other than a mall!

Overall, I think this hotel is the right price for the level of service and quality. The only things I was disappointed about was the laundry service and the Internet. The laundry was picked up late (noon), so was not back the next afternoon. When I pay hotel laundry prices I expect next day service. The wi-fi and wired connections are not an additional charge, so they are over used and slow. Good enough for email, but terrible for doing work. I called to complain and got sympathy, but nothing else. I hope they invest in a bit more bandwidth. Maybe for an extra fee?
