We stayed in Taisan Granville for 4nights and it was so far the best guesthouse I stayed at in HK. I was very anal and has so much requirements for a place to stay since I will be travelling with my senior citizen parents (late 60's) and my better half. I am glad that Taisan somehow made it easier for me (opss.. just a slight note... the step to the bathroom gave them a bit of a pinch as it is a bit "too high" for them.. )
It is worth the price. Location is superb and its in the heart of TST and just opposite is the Kowloon Park where you can find the cute Avenue of comic stars. Shopping, food and relaxing is all within walking distance (Ferry to Macau, Ave of Stars, Night Market, MTR, etc..) The elevator lobby is clean and not crowded so you do not need to queue up just for you to get into the lift (thats what most guesthouses are).
The rooms are clean (always clean!) and the highlight of it is our friendly Indonesian caretaker Mona Lisa. She would always fix your room when you leave (a room service normally in Hotels!) So when you retire for the day, you will be more relaxed to see a neat and clean room! Her warm and sweet smile will always start your day =) they have hot and cold water dispenser, a fridge and microwave that you can use for light and fast meals. Oh and every room has a computer desktop that you can use with high speed internet.. (if you plan to watch movie or videos, better bring your headsets as the pc speaker was disabled I guess of course for noise reduction :)
If you are on a tight budget and worries about places to eat, not to worry.. theres an affordable yet yummy Cafe de Coral and Paisano pizza (huge PIZZA!) just along the stretch..
Overall, it was a very pleasant stay in Taisan... I would definitely stay there again. If you are travelling in big groups this is an ideal place to stay since they have 6 rooms and perhaps you can all occupy the rooms. More cozy and homey.
I always go for tripadvisor reviews everytime I travel on budget and i am thankful for all the honest reviews from other members.. so its my turn then to tell you my story! Happy staying in Granville and in HK!
