“High quality food, service, ambiance if price is no concern”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2012

We had a unique luncheon at Hugos. It is located within the Hyatt in Kowloon. The service was impeccible, with two designated servers in our private dining room. The tables in the main dining room are too crowded to have some of the more special dishes, so the private rooms are much better. There is a special silver domed trolley cart with a revolving carousel with different appetizers inside, for example. Although we had to wait about 10 minutes while they restocked the cart, the smoked salmon was wonderful- fresh, with a dill flavor. Also from the cart, the chicken pate, prawn salad with mango, prosciutto with melon, and ox tongue were excellent. The Caesar salad is prepared fresh in front of you on a small cart and is very light, with lemon overtones. For main courses, the prime rib is buttery tender, much higher quality than virtually any other restaurant in HK. The lobster thermidor is a bit heavier, with a cream and cheese sauce, but full of chunks of tender lobster.

The desserts were the best- the cherries Jubilee and bombe Alaska flamed in front of you. The chocolate soufflé was wonderful. Skip the Crepes Suzette, though- they were tough. The chocolate mousse cake from the dessert trolley was very good.

While the prices were high, the quality of food and service make Hugos a wonderful place for a special meal.

“Nice established restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2012 via mobile

Hugo 's is almost an institution in Hong kong. The food quality and service are of very good standard. Recommended: the "trolley "for entrees or deserts (or both!) and their roast.
I usually go for lunch: it is more business type, but the environment is sobre and comfortable while the food is a safe choice not to disappoint your guests.

“Manages to Stand Alone from Typical Hotel Restaurants”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2012

Located in the Hyatt Regency in TST, the restaurant manages to not be a typical hotel restaurant, with quite an intimate feel. Good French food and all the usual classics. Some of the dishes are finished at the table which made for a better experience – steak au poivre was great as was the fish and desserts. Very good service, and quality food well prepared matched the high prices. A very good selection of wines by the glass as well which is always note worthy in Hong Kong.

“Romantic Fine Dining”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2012

I remember the original Hugos which was located in the previous Hyatt which has now been converted to a mall. The food is European/Continental classical in nature with no huge surprises but very well executed. From the modern wooden decor with some medieval elements thrown in, to the great service (very accommodating to kids), to the cooking which comprises both skill and quality ingredients without trying to be too clever - Hugos just works.

Highly recommended
