“Excellent service, everything else OK”

Spent 4 nights here, and it was a nice place to come home to at the end of an exhausting day.
People say that the rooms in Hong Kong are tiny, however our room was comfortably sized. The bed was firm and perfect for a good night's sleep, and the toilet was clean. However, there was a problem with the water heater. It would suddenly become extra hot even without touching the dial, so be careful of getting scalded when showering. Housekeeping also failed to replenish the soaps even though the bottles we used were finished. We had to resort to taking them ourselves and having to call housekeeping every night. There was a problem with the A/C which kept turning itself off in the middle of the night which made it quite uncomfortable as it got too hot, and we had to manually get up to adjust the A/C. The switches at our beside were a fuss to figure out which was quite frustrating.

There was a gym, a game room and the rooftop lounge that we managed to briefly explore. There was no swimming pool.

There was also a mini-exhibition at the lobby of Hong Kong in the 60's which was quite a cute set up, and a great photo-op.

The service however, was impecabble. The bell boy was very helpful in helping us get taxis as we had very limited command of Cantonese. He also helped us with our luggage even despite the heavy downpour! Very, very impressed.

Location-wise, Madera is located a little off Nathan Road, where there is a lot of food and shopping in the surrounding areas. So there was barely any noise from traffic which was fantastic.

All-in-all, it was a pleasant stay. Definitely a good find for those wanting a place with good value!

Hotel condition is very new and beautiful modern design. The service was very good, staff were very friendly (comparing to most of the other unfriendly and rude services in most restaurant in Hk that is). Location is perfect, only a couple minutes walk to Jordan MTR.

Downside: We couldn't adjust the air-con, every time we change the temperature it will always go back to 22 C within a few hours (it felt a bit hot at night). Room service wasn't what we expected (we thought they would cook proper food for us) but instead we could only get delivery food like Pizza Hut, McDonald's, KFC etc...

But overall the hotel is still highly recommended, the atmosphere feels very cozy, nice and quiet which give you a home-like feelings.

Read some very good reviews on this property via trip advisor and decided to give it a try. We checked in on 4 July and checked out on 6 July. Stayed for 2 nights and booked a Twin Room. The hotel lobby is not big but cozy. As we arrived from Japan and with lots of baggages, they helped us to bring it to our room. We were very impressed with the room size and layout. This is considered big in Hong Kong context. It is really nice of
the hotel to provide free drinks, snacks and also instant noodles for the guest though they do not replenish after that We went up to the roof bar on a evening and the skyline was amazing. There are lots of restaurants and eating outlets near to the hotel therefore food was never a problem. The only setback was we requested for more bath towels but was informed by the chambermaid that they could only issue us with additonal towels if we returned the old ones. We asked for the reason and was told that in case guests bring the towels home Seems that they are not very flexible and do not trust their guests. The next morning, at about 9.00am whilst sleeping, we heard knocks on our door and when we opened the chambermaid was there and asking when we would like her to clean up the room. We told her that if we want the room to be clean, we will hang the cleaning tag outside the door. Perhaps the hotel would like to consider sending the staff for training if necessary, it is the people that makes the stay different. This could be quite annoying especially once awake, it is diffcult to continue with the sleep.
Wifi was also free and with a strong signal. As the hotel is centrally located, it is within walking distance to the shopping district and also Mong Kok. The Temple Street night market is just opposite the other street. Front reception staff and also duty manager are also extremely helpful and nice.
Overall we were all very happy with this new found gem and will continue to stay here when we next visit Hong Kong.

The hotel is located in a very strategic place if you are willing to stay in Kowloon area close to the shopping venues. It's easy to find food around the hotel, subway or a taxi.

The hotel is constructed with "Madera", wood in Spanish. In my opinion is a very personalized hotel for those who look for something special and different. Design is very friendly and with simple things they make you feel that the hotel is something different and with its own style. There are nice touches like the fact that they have free mini bar drinks or the facilities. Particularly I recommended the library which is really cool and at the same time is always a good place to have a coffee. The rooftop bar has always very good views and allow one to have a drink inside the hotel in a not crowded area. The art collection like pictures, sculptures or other objects are coll too and contribute to the idea that is something unique.

Service is really good too. They extended the check-out time two hours more and they were very useful recommending me for a hairdresser and food.

The only "negative" thing is the breakfast as they don't have many options. It's a pity cause as I was saying the library is a really nice venue to serve it and enjoy it.

I will definitely repeat and recommend to friends. Quality - price is really a good choice for HK.

Room Tip: Space is something challenging in HK like other cities in Asia in the room. Choice an upper category...

Stayed for 2 nights to visit my friends living in HK. Even though the price is decent, each staff's hospitality and the room cleanness and attention to detailed service are much higher than 5 star hotel's ones. A single Room is not big (it's in HK, no complain about it) but decent size. The Mini bar and some snacks are free of charge for the first round. Staffs are always cheerful and try to offer any helps if I have a trouble. Definitely I will come back to this hotel when I visit HK again.

Me and my family have stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in the end of April. We had rooms on the 22nd floor ("Grand Deluxe"), one twin and one double. Double room was much smaller than the twin one (probably only because of the location: twin room was at the end of the corridor on that floor, double one was next to it). In general the hotel is very quiet and comfortable, we didn't have any sleeping problems because of other guests or anything else. The only thing I did not like in our rooms were opaque glass walls and doors of the bathrooms. In the double room the glass was actually partly (at the bottom) transparent (with opaque as the biggest part). When you lie in bed, you can basically see almost the whole toilet and part of shower. In the twin room the glass was completely opaque, but it did cause particular inconveniences for us anyways. So if you stay with your friends or you are on a honey moon etc., you should probably take it into account. However, I don't know if it's the same in other room categories. Apart from that the rooms were great, especially that twin one we had.

I have read in the previous review that hotel doesn't have anyone to bring your luggage to the rooms - at the time when we stayed there our bags were brought to our rooms. Personnel of the reception, as well as of the whole hotel, was very helpful and advised us on all our issues.

Breakfast was small (juice, "bread" (muffin/croissant/toast etc) and coffee drink on your choice) - but was very good. For breakfasts they use very nice terrace. And coffee they make is really delicious.

Rooftop bar - fantastic views over Hong Kong! We did not like the drinks they made there, but the bar itself and service there were very nice. Unfortunately, don't remember the price level.

During our stay at the Madera Hotel, on the ground floor there was a small exhibition of Hong Kong of the 20th century. It's really worth visiting and since it's really not big, won't take too much of your time.

Overall - great hotel for your stay in Hong Kong!

Room Tip: Our twin room was much bigger than double room + high floor offers great views over Hong Kong
