The hotel is located in a very strategic place if you are willing to stay in Kowloon area close to the shopping venues. It's easy to find food around the hotel, subway or a taxi.

The hotel is constructed with "Madera", wood in Spanish. In my opinion is a very personalized hotel for those who look for something special and different. Design is very friendly and with simple things they make you feel that the hotel is something different and with its own style. There are nice touches like the fact that they have free mini bar drinks or the facilities. Particularly I recommended the library which is really cool and at the same time is always a good place to have a coffee. The rooftop bar has always very good views and allow one to have a drink inside the hotel in a not crowded area. The art collection like pictures, sculptures or other objects are coll too and contribute to the idea that is something unique.

Service is really good too. They extended the check-out time two hours more and they were very useful recommending me for a hairdresser and food.

The only "negative" thing is the breakfast as they don't have many options. It's a pity cause as I was saying the library is a really nice venue to serve it and enjoy it.

I will definitely repeat and recommend to friends. Quality - price is really a good choice for HK.

Room Tip: Space is something challenging in HK like other cities in Asia in the room. Choice an upper category...

Stayed for 2 nights to visit my friends living in HK. Even though the price is decent, each staff's hospitality and the room cleanness and attention to detailed service are much higher than 5 star hotel's ones. A single Room is not big (it's in HK, no complain about it) but decent size. The Mini bar and some snacks are free of charge for the first round. Staffs are always cheerful and try to offer any helps if I have a trouble. Definitely I will come back to this hotel when I visit HK again.

Me and my family have stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in the end of April. We had rooms on the 22nd floor ("Grand Deluxe"), one twin and one double. Double room was much smaller than the twin one (probably only because of the location: twin room was at the end of the corridor on that floor, double one was next to it). In general the hotel is very quiet and comfortable, we didn't have any sleeping problems because of other guests or anything else. The only thing I did not like in our rooms were opaque glass walls and doors of the bathrooms. In the double room the glass was actually partly (at the bottom) transparent (with opaque as the biggest part). When you lie in bed, you can basically see almost the whole toilet and part of shower. In the twin room the glass was completely opaque, but it did cause particular inconveniences for us anyways. So if you stay with your friends or you are on a honey moon etc., you should probably take it into account. However, I don't know if it's the same in other room categories. Apart from that the rooms were great, especially that twin one we had.

I have read in the previous review that hotel doesn't have anyone to bring your luggage to the rooms - at the time when we stayed there our bags were brought to our rooms. Personnel of the reception, as well as of the whole hotel, was very helpful and advised us on all our issues.

Breakfast was small (juice, "bread" (muffin/croissant/toast etc) and coffee drink on your choice) - but was very good. For breakfasts they use very nice terrace. And coffee they make is really delicious.

Rooftop bar - fantastic views over Hong Kong! We did not like the drinks they made there, but the bar itself and service there were very nice. Unfortunately, don't remember the price level.

During our stay at the Madera Hotel, on the ground floor there was a small exhibition of Hong Kong of the 20th century. It's really worth visiting and since it's really not big, won't take too much of your time.

Overall - great hotel for your stay in Hong Kong!

Room Tip: Our twin room was much bigger than double room + high floor offers great views over Hong Kong

Copying my review from Orbitz:

We enjoyed our 6 night stay at the Madera Hotel in early May. Our double room was very comfortable with nice lighting, furnishing, and temperature control. Space was definitely satisfactory. The bed was a pleasant firm, the pillows were soft, and the sheets and blanket were cozy. Complimentary snacks and drinks in the room were very welcome.

The curtains do a very good job of keeping out the daylight when we wanted to sleep in. The front desk will call in the afternoon if you still have your Do Not Disturb sign on, and you can tell them when you want housekeeping to clean your room, if at all.

Crabtree & Evelyn shampoo/conditioner/body wash/lotion are replaced in the sink drawer every day. We didn't use the jacuzzi tub, but the other complaints about the shower handset were valid. The handset is not affixed well to the wall, but it is only a minor issue.

We were on the 8th floor facing Cheong Lok street and there was no noise at all from outside. Only some noise as other guests passed our room in the hallway. An umbrella, electronic scale, bathrobes, and slippers are all provided. The free Wifi is serviceable.

Staff are polite and not intrusive. They don't have anyone to bring your bags to your room, but I prefer that anyway. We didn't eat at the cafe and we never went to the rooftop bar. I used the gym once and it was nice, but small. Dumbbells up to about 50 lbs. were a bit unwieldy, but were fine. Adjustable bench was good. Small number of cardio machines and only 1 elliptical. Towels and a water cooler are available. All machines are new.

Overall, we really liked our stay at the Madera Hotel. It has only been open for a year and the building is completely new/renovated (used to be residential building). Great value for the money. It is on a convenient location just off of Nathan Rd. and is a couple small blocks from the Jordan MTR station. A21 airport bus stop is similarly close by. There is a Wellcome store across the street (Nathan), but getting to it is a bit more work since you need to walk a block or two to cross.

I would stay again next time I visit Hong Kong.
(Going to HK in July, but will not be staying at Madera because I could not get as good a deal.)

Really a gem in a great location. Spent 3 nights here recently on a recent stopover. First time to Hong Kong and this was a excellent home base. In the heart of a great shopping area with restaurants and shops for every taste. Very friendly and helpful staff from the front desk lobby to the rooftop bar.
Very convenient to MTR or a quick taxi ride to Kowloon Station. Every convenience a traveler may need either onsite or very nearby.
Loved the modern style and technology of the room.
Will stay here again for sure.

Had a 2 night stopover in Hong Kong, so needed a clean, affordable, efficient hotel located near all the key sights, but with easy airport access. This fitted the bill perfectly. The staff were helpful, while the 28th floor room had a superb view the city. The A21 bus to the airport stops within 2 minutes walk of the hotel, while you are close to all the markets and within easy reach of Tsim Sha Tsiu or Jordan MTR. Free wi-fi worked well and my partner enthused about how comfortable the bed was. Following previous recommendations, we had breakfast at one the many local places, so cannot comment on the hotel offering. The rooftop bar has a nice view, but is nothing special and certainly overpriced.
