The Captain's Bar is a very nice bar at the Mandarin Oriental, with great ambience, good drinks and live music. It's one of our favourite place to go for a relaxing drink in Hong Kong, whether it's during the day or in the evening

This famous bar on the ground floor of the Mandarin remains one of the best bars in one of the best hotels in Hong Kong. With ice cold beer served in silver tankards and waiters in crisp white tunic, great nibbles, in relaxed lounge chairs and very tasteful decor you'll go a long way before finding a better bar.
Mostly this is a businessman's bar particularly in the early evening and it can get busy.
as a long term HK resident it rates as one of my favourite places to meet or start the evening. It is not the cheapest place to go for a beer (it is after all The Mandarin) but go there at least once.

I asked the waiter whose move was it in the chess game in front of me. He said there was really something wrong with the chess game and he didn't know the answer.

Nice and courteous answer from the waiter. And that's what makes this bar a nice cozy oasis in the concrete jungle of Hong Kong Central. The drinks and hors d' oeuvres are not extraordinary. They do have a wide choice of wines and spirits and their house Chardonnay was okay. However the friendly service made a difference for me.

Great place to unwind before dinner.

Very busy even later in the evening but top class service. Nice atmosphere and would have gone more often but full house earlier in the evening.

The Captain's Bar was luxurious and well-appointed with a great selection of drinks and snacks. The deep red leather seats are luxurious and comfortable with an overall atmosphere of calm and style.
