when you can enter a shopping mall from your reception you tend to shop and eat there. We have tried almost all restos. The chinese in the basement is the best. Very harsh staff, but the food is made by an angel. The chilli and garlic is plenty. The vietnamese not the best. The thai is excellent. Food store/supermarket is better than any in The Netherlands.

The K11 Art Concept Mall is one of smaller, vertical style shopping malls in the Tsim Sha Tsui area to have opened in recent years, located on Mody and Hanoi Road, just off of Nathan Road. K11 offers a blend of lifestyle, trendy and fashion shopping that is less formal and polished compared to our larger shopping malls in Hong Kong. In short, as the mall concept suggests, it’s artsy!

In general, this is not one of our favorite malls for shopping but we find it a rather nice place to visit. There never seems to be the crowds that can drown you out of places like Harbor City (TST), New Town Plaza (Sha Tin) and Times Square (Causeway Bay). Also, there is a slightly tranquil outdoor terrace area on the ground floor, accessible at street level that is just nice for TST.

However, what makes K11 really different is the presence of lots of casual and playful art exhibits and displays found on each of the five upper levels and two basement levels of the mall. This makes a great change from the traditional shopping experience, we particularly like the wall sized Mona Lisa exhibition, which is make entirely out of toast. That is just very cool! There is also an Art Stage room on one of the floors with a few artistic exhibitions that is worth finding.

One of our very favorite shops at K11 is a little place called sticky, where you can watch candy-makers laboring away, making old-fashion hard candies. This is quite enjoyable. Also, a favorite yoghurt dessert shop, called Smile can be found at K11. This is worth a look, even if just to see the creative desserts they make that look like art.

Overall, K11 is a fun place to visit, quite different than our other mall and shopping experiences in Hong Kong. We like it there!

This mall sits right below Hyatt Regency Tsim Sha Tsui hotel, and is conveniently located near 2 MTR Stations – Tsim Sha Tsui and East Tsim Sha Tsui Station which can be easily accessed via Exit N4 at Basement 2.

The mall itself is filled with mid-range to high-end shopping brands; like Laura Ashley, Kipling, Mirabell to Y3 etc. There is a Marketplace here which opens early till late for convenience of shoppers and hotel guests. Food here is also catered for mid-range to fine dining; like Xia Fei, Misocool, Agnes B café, Paul Lafayet, La Creation, East Ocean and Holly Brown Coffee etc. Cheaper options like Tsui Wah Restaurant can be easily found outside the mall.

Being an art concept mall, you can find numerous art pieces, big and small lying around the mall. A famous one would probably be a Leonardo da Vinci inspired Mona Lisa holding an ice cream cone, done by Mr Maurice Bennett. This artwork is composed entirely of toast, as part of the Food Art Festival currently going on in K11.

The mall is a nice place to hang out in; it doesn’t get as crowded as malls like Harbour City. Spend some time in one of the cafes and watch the world go by in the bustling heart of Tsim Sha Tsui!
