“Stay around the airport if your event is held there...”
Reviewed September 19, 2012

It is very easy to get to AWE from the airport and costs HKD5 one way - the discount for the event does not apply on the airport express trains to AWE. If you are heading to Hall 1,2,3,5, it's a shorter walk if you are at the front of the train.

The halls are quite huge, if the event takes up most of the hall, like the jewellery fairs, it would take about half a day just to walk through all the halls.

Be careful when buying the return ticket for the airport express train from the machine- the machine 'ate' my change and the staff wasn't helpful at all. If you have time and don't mind the queue,, buy from the customer servcies counter instead.

“Be sure to show your event ticket to get a discount on Airport Express”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

Went to Asia World Expo for the Cirque de Soleil show Salimbanco in July 2012. The event space was adequate, nothing really exciting to write about. I think Asia World is definately laid out better than the HKCEC in Wan Chai.

As other people have stated, the event you're attending will really drive your review of the venue. My biggest piece of advice is if you're arriving by Airport Express, ask the customer service agent if there is a discount for Airport Express for your event. We simply showed them our ticket receipt (since we were picking our tickets up at the venue) and they gave us the discounted Airport Express tickets that only cost $52HKD round trip! That's almost 50% off the standard same-day round-trip fare from Hong Kong station.

“Good venue, depends on the show, of course”
Reviewed July 13, 2012

AWE is a good venue, nothing special, but "good" enough. It is spacious for Hong Kong standards. Your level of enjoyment will depend on why you go. Plusses: You can reach AWE by airport express... great. Minuses- green taxis are forbidden to take passengers there...very inconvenient if you are coming from the New Territories by taxi

“Great arena for concerts and conventions, excellent location next to airport”
Reviewed June 7, 2011

The Asia World Expo Convention Centre is similar to the HK Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) in Wan Chai with a nice location next to the airport, one stop away on the airport express train but also less convenient, if you are coming from the city area as you need to travel out to Lantau island to get there. Airport Express from HK station will have you there in under 25 minutes, so its not that bad.

The facilities are a bit more modern than the older HKCEC and the concert arena is quite nice. We watched the Maroon 5 concert there last month and were very pleased with the facilities, sound and stage. It seemed good enough for repeat visits to see other artists performing in Hong Kong. Also, with the excellent Airport Express, you can get out of the Asia World Expo, back in route to the city quite quickly. Making the Asia World Expo Convention Centre quite good for concerts.

Only complaint would be the lack of restaurants on the grounds and nearby, leaving you few chooses for dining at/near the Asia World Expo Centre.
