Decided to rent the Junk for an after wedding party, with family and friends. We loved the crew and service provided by Island Junk, 14 of us in total and we found the Junk so spacious and comfortable. Brought our own music to dance along with. We were lucky with the weather, cruised out to sea and stopped for a couple hours by the recommended Turtle Bay, which was just perfect as it was a nice and quiet small beach, and had it all to ourselves. Had very delicious lunch cooked and served on board with free flow of drinks then , along with some having an easy swim while others rowed the spare boat to shore.
Everyone enjoyed the trip and was very satisfied with it. Would definitely do this again sometime when possible, especially for a getaway from the concrete jungle!

We were in Hong Kong for 5 days and wanted to do something special to celebrate my friend's birthday. After spending everyday in the hustle and bustle of Central, Kowloon, etc we loved the idea of getting away from it all and relaxing out in the sun and water. We ended up chartering a junk privately with Island Junks for a full day's excursion to nearby island spots. (It's Hong Kong and there are companies that offer luxury yachts, speedboats etc if you are looking for that sort of thing but we wanted a big enough boat with space and room to sunbathe and hang out. A junk is not cheap but still better priced than a yacht.) We booked with Maghnus who was informative, helpful, and answered all our questions. He made the process very easy. The boat was perfect. I didn't know what to expect from a "junk" having grown up in the states, but it was really very nicely appointed, clean and well taken care of. There were several areas to sit and hang out, both in the sun and in the shade. We chose to spend most of our sailing time by putting down towels (which you should remember to bring with you) and laying out on the sun deck. The crew, a very nice older couple, were extremely accommodating and friendly. We sailed across the waters enjoying the warm weather, sea breeze and gorgeous views. We sailed to Po Toi and had lunch at Ming Kee restaurant which is basically the equivalent of a beachside seafood shack - delicious, no frills, all about fresh seafood kind of place. Then we sailed to Lamma Island and spent the rest of the afternoon anchored in Turtle Cove. The waters are a gorgeous green, reflecting the scenic mountains and greenery and beautiful rocky shores. There is a sandy stretch of beach which looked lovely and clean but unfortunately it was closed off to people for the turtles nesting season. It was all fine because we swam and kayaked (the junk comes equipped with this) in the beautiful green waters around the cove just off the shore. It was a wonderful day in beautiful surroundings - never did I think there was something like this so close to Hong Kong. We would recommend this excursion to others, and we would love to do it again in the future.

Had an enjoyable trip around Aberdeen Harbour including the fish market and seeing fishing out at sea from near the harbour wall. Great fun to get out and about among the boats though most of the uinhabited junks seem to have gone now - given way to huge private yachts.

Wow - we phoned Island Junks late on a Thursday afternoon and had instant response and instant confirmation that we could book for the Friday! We went for a private charter and wow was it ever worth it! Upstairs deck of huge cushions / bean bags / canopy for shade if you wanted it. Middle deck of superb dining table and front deck of pure sunbathing! Crew were wonderful - so attentive to needs and brilliant with the kids (4 adults and 7 kids ranging from 14 yrs to 5 yrs!). Private charter meant we could also stop off for a swim - brilliant. All in - a wonderful, wonderful day - highlight easily of the holiday.
The booking was over email and the phone - very easy - and great directions - phone answered instantly in the morning when I forgot to actually take the directions with me...!
We did this as our last day of a week long visit and all the kids (and adults!) agree it was the best day (even beating Disneyland / Ocean Park!).
