Went to Stanley on a Sunday morning for some shopping and lunch. Its a really different atmosphere there, away from the hustle and bustle of HK city. We reached there around 10.30am and there was not many people yet. The crowd started coming in at around noon.

Take a walk at Stanley Market and have lunch at one of the restaurants in Stanley. There are many dining options so don't worry. You'll also see many expats with their families there, or with their dogs.

Overall, it was a nice experience!

We were staying in Kowloon, which I am just guessing might be a good 45 minutes away.

However, we were on the Big Bus open air tour, and we just took it to Stanley, via the lovely and unique Repulse Bay (where the Brits fought back against, or repulsed, the pirates of the South China Sea).

Stanley has the expected complement of souvenir shops (many with mostly Indian goods), but it is a lovely little stretch of beach. So different then the other side of HK island or Kowloon. A fun little excursion.

went on the big red bus tour of the island and did'nt expect Stanley or Repluse Bay to be as beautifull as they were! both look like somewhere on the french riveara, white sand,blue water,exclusive hotels, gated houses a world away from the hustle & bustle of honk kong

The ride on the Number 6 bus to Stanley is one of the great small journeys of the world. Magnificent views. Sit in the front on the upper deck and marvel at the skill of the driver! warning: not for the nervous! Stanley Market loads of fun.
