Owner description: Sai Kung is a small fishing village with picturesque boats, beaches and mountain scenery. The fresh seafood is plentiful and there are many dining options and wine bars along the seaside promenade. A day at the beach here makes for a nice change of pace from Hong Kong.

I love sai kung!
not what you expect from a city known for it's skyscrapers. A lovely little village with a beautiful pier walk, dog park, little cafes/ eatery's, markets, pubs and the quintessential fish restaurants. come for the day and enjoy kayaking and the nearby geo park. great day out, and the hong kong locals agree, so be sure to get there on a week day to avoid crowds.

Sai Kung is easy to reach on busses, from Tseung Kwan O, for example. It offers scenes of local vendors offering fish directly from boats. Fish restaurants are somewhat expensive, 500 hkd for a late lunch for two, but could be viewed as an experience.
The bus ride (regular transit busses) from Tseung Kwan O gives some scenery.

Big harbor with a ton of small boats. Nice bayside restaurants serving very good seafood. Unlike Stanley on HK island, catering more to Western tourists, this is a place favored mostly by mainland Chinese tourists.

The number of seafood and large fish aquarium is impressive. We went to Cheun Gee and had a dinner menu for 6 people. We had lots of seafood and it was not too expensive (around 1300 HKD). Interesting experience.

We took bus 92 from diamond hill mtr, after visiting the nunnery and gardens, to sai kung on a day trip. It was great to watch the selling of food from the boats on the harbour. We walked past the restaurants to fond a fantastc kids bookshop where i found some chinese picture story books written in English. The reading room, 21 hoi pong st sai kung, well worth a look.
We travelled onto wong shek pier via bus 94.
I wish we had the entire day in sai kung to explore, oh well, next time!
