After enjoying our dimsum breakfast over at Prince Edward, we walked back to Mongkok and passed through the street surrounded by flowers and plants. It was such a pleasant respite from the business of the city - and cheap! I saw HKD15 flower pots and HKD100 bouquet of beautiful, fresh flowers. The merchants are courteous and patient, as well.
Spend an hour walking around and stop every now and then to smell the roses.

So much colour. Bonus is that this is right next to the bird market so it gives you two great photos spots in one. The market is busy, and there are so many wonderful flowers. This place is a must.

The entire street was littered with flower shops, each displaying their unique products on the storefront. Truly a colourful sight to behold, which was refreshing after walking along high-rise buildings for the entire day. At the end of the street is a bird garden, where proud bird owners carry along their cages to display their birds. I felt quite sad for the birds though, which was made worse after I saw the number of trapped birds in the stores that were selling them. One of the tiny cages had more than 20 birds in them and they didnt even have room to fly in it.

Nice cross section of flowers, plants and all type of tropical flora. You can even buy and take some seeds home for planting (if your climate permits of course).

The Flower Market you can visit on your own but the explanation of how it got started and why is still popular... where to go from there etc is better with a local guiding you! These free tours are based on a donation and suggest $100 Hong Kong dollars which is about $12-15 USA dollars at the moment and very cheap for all the knowledge, inside information and experience that I got! I also made new friends and took an eating tour at night to try local interesting foods!
