“No Blackout curtain!”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

Everything in the reviews are true. This is a very good value Hotel. For the price you pay I think is the best in Hong Kong. If they raise the rate then I have other choices......

We stayed at both Harbourview room and Cityview Room. Harbourview Room has good sea view but not full seaview some part cover with Hong Kong skyscapers. Very good night view. Cityview has the habour tunnel view, traffic! but 300hkd cheaper!

The only 2 downsides: No blackout curtain (Habourview room is better because sun does not rise from that side). We were awaken at 6am by the light of the curtain. However the housekeeper help us change the curtain to double curtain which help the light in the morning. Thank you. The other downside is not so good sound proof for Cityview room, We can hear the traffic noise in the morning. Not loud but still hearable! even we were at 28th floor!

My son doesn't like the Gym so he has to go to Fitness First. But I guess this is the case for most Hong Kong Hotel, they have limited equipment due to space?

Highly recommended Hotel !

Dear happy12366,
Thank you for your feedback. Whilst it is never pleasant to receive a review that does not reflect an entirely satisfactory stay, I am still grateful that you let us know as it is important to hear that side as well. I will certainly discuss your experience with the team. Should you be returning to Hong Kong please contact me directly.
With warm regards,

The Icon Hotel in Hong Kong is a shining example of what a hotel should be in 2013. It should be a must-do field trip for all future hoteliers. It gets A+s across the board, but I will single out the service [friendly, impeccable, fast, efficient], the atmosphere [make you feel like a king], the design [an architectural and artistic masterpiece], the internet [fast, free, everywhere, passwordless], the view [a million dollar view across the harbor through large wall-sized windows], and the passion [of all employees, without a single exception] as the main features. This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in---by a smiling mile!

Room Tip: All rooms are fine. The harbor view rooms---more expensive--are slightly better. The rooms on the c...

This hotel is simply fantastic. It's a great concept - a hotel set up and run by the hospitality school of HK Polytechnic University as a centre of research and excellence, aiming to set new standards for the industry. It's staffed partly by students and I have to say the service is some of the best we have had anywhere. The hotel is beautifully designed and many of the rooms on its 28 floors have views over Hong Kong harbour. If you stay here, I totally recommend paying a bit extra for the ICON 38 Harbour View rooms: they have floor to ceiling windows, and the bed is positioned right in front of the window, so you can go to sleep watching the twinkling lights in the bay - it is the best hotel view we've ever had. (So much so we couldn't bear to close the curtains and got woken up early by the dawn!) There are lots of great little touches - the minibar's free (and restocked every night), there are Nespresso machines in the rooms and a seasonal what's on guide. We ordered breakfast in bed twice and the food quality was excellent. If I had to quibble about anything, the location is slightly away from the action - but taxis are very cheap, the hotel has a free shuttle bus, or you can walk down to the Star Ferry or up to the main road in TST within 20 minutes. If and when we come to HK again, we'll still be coming back to Hotel ICON.

Room Tip: As mentioned, definitely go for the ICON 38 rooms (the 36 have a different layout where the bed isn...

We had the opportunity to stay at Hotel Icon for the weekend while in Hong Kong for business and a little fun. We had room 1610 located furthest from the elevator but it was worth it for the view. After our evening arrival we met some friends for dinner at Above and Beyond Restaurant. The restaurant was crowded, the service and food excellent. Their fitness room was complete with most equipment anyone would need for a regular routine plus you have a great view of the pool and the city beyond. Each day for breakfast we went down to the Market Restaurant. The brunch buffet was quite extensive and tasty! The hotel has a shuttle that runs to the Middle Road (The Peninsula) and the Sun Arcade (Star Ferry). The shuttle also had wifi which was very convenient. We managed to stop by the pool to relax with poolside service - it was a little crowded at times but comfortable. We didn't have a chance to enjoy high tea at the Icon but it looked to be quite popular. Overall, our first stay here, the service and hotel were very good and we would definitely stay again if the opportunity presented itself.

Unfortunately we could stay at Hongkong for one night only. But it was a night to remember. No doubt, one of the best hotels I have ever stayed. We got corner room at high floor. The harbour view was panoramic. Bed room, Living rooms are quite spacious with tasteful modern decor. The minibar is free. LCD televisions in Bedroom, Living Room & Shower area. You get a working desk with all the stationeries (ideal for business travellers). The dinner served at the restaurant was awesome. Would surely love to come back to stay a little longer.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor corner unit.

Great hotel located in Kowloon. Perfect accommodation, service and a superb view! Check-in was very speedy and virtually hassle free. We had a room with a harbour view and enjoyed every minute in the hotel. We only had breakfast once. Breakfast was very rich - albeit not quite cheap. The hotel is very conveniently located in Tsim Sha Tsui - close to Nathan Street and the restaurants and bars there. If you walk over a bridge you will reach Hung Hom metro station in 5 minutes. Or you take the free minibus from the hotel to take you to the Ferry or Tsim Sha Tsui metro station to cross the harbour for Hong Kong Central. The swimming pool is a must with a great scenery. WiFi and a free minibar were the perfect "accessories" to our stay.

We stayed for 4 nights and loved every minute. Checking in was hassle free with reception staff very friendly. We had a harbour view room, great view, very spacious, nice to come back to the air conditioned comfort after a hot day sight seeing. We only had breakfast once in The Market Place, so much to choose from but was quite expensive. Great location, easy walk to shopping, restaurants and ferries. There is a free hotel shuttle bus if you don't feel like walking. Will definitely stay at this hotel again if we return to Hong Kong.
