Owner description: Since 1904, trams have been running from East to West of Hong Kong Island. Over the last century, Hong Kong Tramways witnessed the development of Hong Kong, and the tram remains an efficient and the most economical mode of public transport in Hong Kong. Today, Hong Kong Tramways owns and operates a fleet of 163 tramcars, including 2 antique tramcars, carrying a daily average of 230,000 passengers. It is the world's largest fleet of double-deck tramcars still in service.

It's of course not the most comfortable ride, and the standing room or sitting room is very limited and there's no AC and the ride is noisy, but this is one of the oldest and cheapest form of traveling in HK, and you gotta try it and sightsee while on route.

It's so much fun just crossing the hustle and bustle of town in these old trams. HK loves new and shiny, but happily they leave these trams as they are. Running every two minutes and very cheap.

Cheap mode of transportation and probably runs at the perfect speed for tourists who just want to sit at the upper level and take in Hong Kong. With an Octopus card you also don't have to worry about having change or paying in cash. Be warned that the trams can get very crowded with limited seating so if you're insistent on finding a seat or enjoying the sites of HK you may have a go awhile on the tram until someone vacates his/her seat.

this tramway experience is always one of a kind. I took double-deck bus in London, in Brussel and in NYC, but only here in HK, you would be reminded of the old days still haunting this modern and prosperous city.

We caught the tram on Easter Monday, which was perfect because there was no traffic & few people so we felt quite alone. We wanted lots of ding dinging, but on the trip to Kennedy Town there was no dinging at all. However we had the best seat, which is at the front of the tram on the top level, from where we took some great photos of true Hong Kong. Every tourist should take a trip on this tram, just to experience the sights sounds & smells of this wonderful city.
