“Absolutely Superb!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2013

On the strength of other reviews, we booked four nights in the hotel about six months ago. We were warmly welcomed on our arrival, actually even before we arrived: bell hops saw us coming and met us well before we had reached the doors and took care of our luggage. Our room was fabulous, with an incomparable view of the Pearl River estuary. The T-Hotel is a teaching hotel and that meant that a bevy of students would come to the room in the early evening to practise turning down the bed, leaving chocolates, providing a bucket of ice, bottled water, and even small mats on either side of the bed. Buffet breakfast, with omelets-made-to order, was very good and, again, the service was impeccable. Travel information was provided (we wanted to hike up Victoria Peak and were provided with a map and instructions). If six stars could be awarded, this hotel would rate six stars. The hotel is quite easily reached from the Hong Kong airport on bus A-10 in a bit more than an hour at a reasonable HK$ 48. The bus stops on the opposite side of the road and one has to cross the road on a "zebra path" with traffic lights that are activated by a pedestrian and then walk back about 100 paces on the other side of the road.

Room Tip: Rooms facing away from the road and facing the water provide an excellent view.

This hotel is very nice. Clean & welcoming. It is away from the town center, but for a $10 USD taxi ride, we found it no problem for us. Beautiful room & view. The students were very friendly. The culinary school served delicious meals. We would stay again.

Room Tip: ocean view room was wonderful

I just loved the staff at this hotel. They tried so hard to please you at every step. It is a beautiful place with awesome views. We slept great, had a lovely breakfast and enjoyed every minute. I wish we could have tried the Chinese restaurant but it wasn't open during our stay. The breakfast choices were plentiful and delicious. They helped us plan our trip to Macau on the turbo jet and set up an early morning taxi pick up to take us to the Airport Express. Great stay!

At the T-Hotel you don't get what you pay for - you get a LOT more. We were never greeted, treated, pampered and cared for better than in the T-Hotel Hong-Kong - the students are eager to do their very best and it is great to be a part of it. Beside the beautiful room, view, bathroom, restaurant etc. we honestly had the most delicious noodle-soup of our lifes - the cuisine is really good there too, we had dinner twice. To and from downtown we always took a taxi, it is helpful to have a small printed map of the Hotel with Chinese writing handy for the taxidrivers downtown. The ride is between 65.- and 70.- Hong-Kong $ and takes about 12-15 minutes, really cheap and well worth the money.
I use this opportunity to thank the trainees and the training supervisors again for doing such a wonderful job !!

Room Tip: I recommend booking an ocean-view-room, it is stunning !

Duration: 4 nights

Room: Very spacious and comfortable. Bathroom was awesome too. Got the harbor view and was not disappointed.

Service: As staff are all trainees, they try to give it their best and this is evident. Overall quite pleased, was also allowed early check-in which was much appreciated.

Location: This is perhaps the only drawback as the hotel is not connected by any MRT station. There is a bus stop right outside. Cab to central Hong Kong is quite cheap (~ US $7) for a distance of about 5km.

We chose this specifically as it was a training hotel and were not disappointed. The concept is excellent and the staff was very attentive (perhaps too much so at times). Some mornings at breakfast there were 14 staff and the two of us. Congratulations to those who developed this concept as it is certainly successful.

We have stayed in five star hotels in cities around the world and none of them have rooms of a higher standard. The hotel is the sixth floor of a training college and is run by the students under the close supervision of their instructors. Every task has a plethora of willing hands and it's often entertaining to watch the interaction between trainers and trainees. Having said that, sometimes you need to be a little patient as tasks take slightly longer than normal, or when you are asked the same thing two or three times by different people. Play along and it's great fun. And a scotch and dry made with ginger beer instead of dry ginger ale doesn't taste bad anyway!

There are about 35 rooms, mostly with wonderful ocean views. Free internet connection is available for your devices. The restaurant menu is limited, but the food is well presented and very palatable. Most of the dishes are western food. On Friday nights you can access a delightful Chinese meal on a different floor of the building. It's a set menu of about eight or nine courses, but even I managed to thoroughly enjoy the food, despite being very un-adventurous in my eating habits. (OK, I skipped a couple of courses!)

The hotel is a little off the beaten track but easily accessible by bus or taxi. To Central the bus fare is the equivalent of $1US. Taxi was about $7 US. For Ocean Park, Aberdeen or Stanley it's closer than Central Hong Kong hotels. Many taxi drivers are not aware of its existence, so take along the map you get when they email your confirmation.

Because the service is by trainees, and some facilities such as a pool are missing, you certainly wouldn't give this hotel a Five Star rating, but it's a great opportunity to get a five star experience at a three star price.

We will be back!
