7th of dececmber 2012 i came here in Hongkong without booking hotel.Ohh in ground floor to everybody only try to more money,single room 650hkd with out bath room in usa hotel,cosmic guest house,also there very bad behave,who are working there,really they don't know how to respect,suddenly i found Indian guy ohh he really help full,friendly,bruno,merryland guest house,mirador mansion,13f/d2.He gave me 280hkd,room is quite small but in room have everything what you need.free wifi,attached bathroom,hot-cold 24 hours shower.free call phone in local.I am really happy to stay here,always come here also if you are bugget guest must be come here.

Excellent.
Was slightly concerned after reading mixed reviews previously. But we took the risk and I'm very happy with it.

You can not expect a big large room for this price. So it would be unfair to complain about that.

It was very clean and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout my stay. What more can I ask for at this price?

Oh and a great shower!

Don't expect a five-star hotel
Don't compare this hotel for an expensive hotel because it isn't. I have looked around and so far this is the cheapest I saw. I am definitely not picky on where I will stay but this one is okay for the non-picky solo travelers. If you want a super clean and super orderly room and you have the budget, then go ahead and try a more expensive room. But I prefer a budget room than spend money on a more expensive room.

worst place to stay in hongkong
Hi Friends,
Very dirty place to live,full of bedbugs, cockroaches,ants bathroom is very dirty smells very bad.
unsafe for families they will re rent the rooms to short time couples who go for city tour and business works and do not change the bedcloths also so please think twice before going to this guest house.you can find so many good guest house in same rent in same building.

I have suffered a lot staying in this guest house so iam warning others who come for a enjoyable holiday or business

Value for money
The merryland Hostel runs from $200 for a single room depending on the season. It is clean and well run. It is excellently located for amenities and transportation complete with a beautiful park nearby. I find it a safe facility with over the top security provisions. Hostels are like restaurants you cant always find a place you can go back to with consistent good results. Merryland Hostel is such a place. I have been frequenting this hostel for several years and have always found the place to be exceptionally clean with 24 hour hot water, top class wi-fi and the service absolutely without fault. The manager Prenab provides almost any service the client could want and his knowledge of the inner workings of Hong Kong is a godsend to any traveler fortunate to frequent his hostel and immediately become a member of the Merryland family. The other indicator is the high rate of clients that are repeat customers and Merryland scores high in this category indeed. As I write this I notice the blog by Viona T. There isn't a hotel or building in Hong Kong that doesn't have its share of critters esp where clients can bring food into their rooms. Merryland is of the best when it comes to management of such things. Bedclothes are always fresh and clean and you certainly wont find a hostel in a new building.

Warning - Coackroaches, ants, boxroom
This hostel cost around 250 Hong Kong Dollars per night per double room (25-30 Euros), it had cockroaches, ants crawling the walls, old tatty bedclothes, box room (the bedroom door straight ahead at the end of the hallway) in a old run down building. It is an anomalie versus the buildings that surround it and the other properties near by. The bed was only 1.8 meters long (so not convenient for tall people) and the bathroom was not up to standard or cleaned with left over bottles from the previous guest. I couldn´t sleep, nor bear to use the bathroom here so managed to cancel without difficulty and a refund of the following two nights (excluding the 10% deposit paid to the hostel website I used and the first night as was too late to change at 2am) and paid more than four times more to go and stay in The Eaton Smart Hotel down the road (10 mins walk away) which was well worth the money.

Eaton Smart Hotel was circa 1,200 Hong Kong Dollars per night per double room, great buffet breakfast, cooks on standby to cook your eggs how you like them, rooftop swimming pool, free gym and massage chair available and very comfortable bed and room space well layed out. Only downfall was they had renovating building works from 9am - 6pm with a break between 12 and 2pm. They did apologise and warn on arrival and subsequently offered compensation via additional enhancements to our stay.
