Po Toi O Village Oct 2011.

This small fishing village quite near Claerwater Bay Golf Resort is a must for Seafood lovers. Not found on many tourist to do's but well known by the locals.

If time permits visit FAT KEE SEA FOOD RESTAURANT, you pick you live choices and they will prepare for you. The Restaurant is right on the edge of the ferry pier and is open air with rain canopies.

Quality is superb and the views on clear weather are a must as is the small village itself.

Our friends staying in Sai Kung brought us to this quaint little seafood restaurant. In fact, they confessed they "stumbled" onto it when romping around their homegrounds in Sai Kung. This is NOT one of those commercialised seafood food joints in Sai Kung.

Having a meal here is akin to going to a rustic fishing village in HK. It is very very rustic, and feels like going back a page in time. The tables and chairs are all old-style, rickety and feels make-shift. What is important is that if feels really authentic. You can still spot the villagers sunning dried fishes.

You go and pick your seafood and let them know how you like it cooked. And because everything is so fresh, and so much choices, it is really tasty. You need to speak a splatter of Cantonese (or go with a friend who speaks Cantonese) to order. This is a very local joint. This is off Sai Kung, a standalone in Po Toi O. Their specials are fried mantis shrimp with peppery salt, and a rich collection of steamed fish.

What makes it really special is that it is a hidden little treasure which is not commercialised. Ask about seafood in HK.....the usual suspects like Rainbow (Lamma Island), Sai Kung, Lei Yue Mun typically crops up.

Although the restuarant is open at night, a visit to this place during the day time is highly recommended for best rural visit effect.

How to get there:
Take the MTR to Tseung Kwan O MTR and switch to Minivan route 16 or take a taxi from the MTR.
