If location is your primary concern, this hotel should be on your short list. It's less than a block away from the mid-levels, meaning it's walking distance to Central / Hong Kong Station / IFC Mall and LKF (which, if you’re a tourist like me, are some key areas)... I'd say around a 6-8 minute walk from the Airport Express (HK) station to the hotel entrance? Granted, the immediate around the hotel seemed a bit dingy, but it never felt unsafe and looked like it was in the first stages of gentrification (for better or worse).

Lobby staff was friendly, efficient, and had some particularly great suggestions for eating like a local. The staff working the street-level entrance always took time to say hi and open the doors.

The room looked and felt new, if not a bit worn, and was decked out with all kinds of useful gadgets. There was a questionable-looking residue on the tiling under the toilet, which was made to look even more unflattering considering the tiles were black. Cleanliness is a big issue for me, and with this in consideration I give the bathroom a barely passing score.

I imagine this property is one of the better choices in the area for the under 1000 HKD price range… but while I would consider staying here again in the future, I'll probably try something else before coming back.

I was there for one night on the 27 May 2011. I was very impressed with the lobby on first impression, it has a very nice homely feel to it and the fact that you can have a seat while check in is a bonus! I was lucky that I was upgraded from an superior to an executive suite with a king size bed. the lift going up to the room was a bit slow, but it isn't too bad. the room is very spacious, one will not expect from a hotel in a old revamp building in Central. the room has a view of the opposite building, which one would expect in a hotel in HK. But i also got a glimpse of the IFC and a city view. the bed and duvet is very comfortable. the only copmplain I will make is the bathroom is a bit dark and doesn't have enough surface for toiletries. and for some reason, the toilet was a bit noisy even when i am not using it. It kinda make a flushing sound from time to time. The shower has an option of a removable shower head and rain shower, that's a nice touch.
I requested for a late checkout and normally it is for 1pm, but since I had a lot to do and requested to have it at 2.30, the staff as very accommodating with my request.

the location was good, as I like the fact that the central wet market was just downstairs. it is a nice clash of the old and new, which is what Central is all abt. it is only minutes to the train and Lan Kwai fong, with all the shops and restaurants

all in all, a very pleasant experience. I wish I had a look at the superior room that I was booked in for, as my executive upgrade was very impressive. thanks Butterfly!

Booked this place based on recent reviews and ability to get a good deal. Can't beat the location with restaurants, shops and transport all within an easy walk. I had a friendly and efficient welcome when I checked in and found staff helpful at other times. Due to overbooking I had to be assigned a different type of room; seems to be a common problem in HK.

Rooms aren't flash but they're adequate. My carpet looked as though it could use a deep clean and there was a strange smell on exiting the lift but fortunately it didn't permeate the room.

Wifi in the lobby is a good speed and the computer is useful if you don't have your own. Wifi in the rooms is the next step.

In terms of the location of this hotel in it is hard to imagine it being beaten in Hong Kong, especially for the price, easily walkable from the main station. Slightly off the main roads too so there is no real noise and hustle and bustle to disturb you and this means you can get a decent nights sleep. The price was a reasonable one given the location, the fact that the room was a good size, it was clean and well laid out. The only downside was that there was a slightly odd slightly sewage smell in the bathroom (didn't really permeate into the main room but the bathroom door was closed due to the smell).

There is a great little smoothie shop and little restaurant opposite for those wanting to pick up something early morning to eat.

Its a nice hotel. But I cant really say its a hotel. They dont have any room service, they dont have restaurant, no gym, swimming pool, nothing. All you have nice rooms in a nice location.

I wouldnt have a problem with that if the price you pay would reflect with non-existent amenities. Basically I only get a room nothing else, I just think I pay far too much for that, You could stay in lets say Garden View Hotel for half the price, yet you can get a swimming pool and gym etc.

If you get a nice deal or promotion, then its ok, otherwise I would not stay here again if I am going to pay more than 200usd a night.

I needed to book a week's accommodation in central and chose the Butterfly on Wellington based on its location and availability for a number of rooms. The location can't be beaten on Wellington street right near the escalators and close to Lan Kwai Fong.

The hotel itself is recently renovated but as at May 2011, the renovations still hadn't been completed. The rooms were small (it's HK) but have been 'updated' however not completely - although the bathroom was new, the carpet still looked 20 years old.

The biggest drawback for this hotel was the smell. It hits you as soon as you step out of the lift. It is a very strong dank smell which just doesn't leave - fortunately I was not in the room that much but it was pretty bad. My colleague staying on a different floor echoed similar comments about the smell so it isn't confined to one spot!

One other small issue was there is no iron in the room and the hotel has no restaurant or room service. This however is a small point given the hundreds of options within walking distance.

Overall, it was reasonable for the price

It’s happy to know that you liked our hotel location. While for the smell you mentioned, it was actually caused by temporary problem from the hotel’s drainage system. That issue was fixed and the smell was removed shortly. Great thanks for your valuable opinion and we hope to welcome you back again soon.

Really nice hotel, great location if you want to be close to restaurants and bars.

Very friendly and helpful staff, they even arranged a parcel delivery for me for free.

Would benefit from room service or a restaurant, but there are plenty of places to eat near by.
