“Great place with spacious rooms!”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

Located a bit away from the center of Hong Kong, with the MTR's blue line, it takes about 20 minutes from Central. Considering how often the trains runs so there is no problem at all. If you think all the rooms in HK at reasonable prices is minmala to the surface you be pleasantly surprised when you take in to this hostel (?!), Rooms are really really big and spacious with thoughtful design, great colors, great lighting , no paper-thin walls, beds a bit hard (quite common in Asian countries), kettle, fridge (no minibar) and cable TV with only few English speaking channels. Good thing was that you didn’t have to pass the reception (vån12) but instead you could get to your room via a side / rear door using your magnetic card.
I really enjoyed the days/nights i spent here. Definitely recommended!

This is a beautiful new building with well-furnished rooms and amenities such as treadmills and rowing machines (no weights), self-service laundry and a nice cafe. My room had its own wifi router with Ethernet port. The connection was great during the day (40 MB download speed) but much slower late at night (around 1 MB download speed). This was my only complaint about this hotel. It is located very close to the MTR which makes up for the location in a residential neighborhood without much to do.

I have traveled to HK several times for leisure and this was by far the best place I have stayed at. The room exceeded my expectations for the price that I paid; the room is big for HK's standards, the beds are comfortable and the room is clean.

The only down side is that Y-Loft is located a bit off the city but has all the necessary amenities located within its vicinity. But with a bit of planning, getting around HK from Chai Wan is really convenient with the efficient MTR system.

Tip: Take Hong Kong Airport Express (HKD 100) and cab to Chai Wan from Hong Kong station (HKD 90). Saves a lot of time and effort!

Will definitely stay here again!

My rating is a simple common sense equation. 5 star hotels equal to massive expectations, a hostel on the other hand, zero expectations.. This hostel is honestly a gem away from the hustle bustle of HK. But it's not the average budget hostel. It is spacious, facilities are pretty spot on ( personalised wifi for every room!) you don't get that even from 5 star hotels! Cute little cafe with a woman who speak no English, who cares anyway. Just point the menu, and food will be served. Rooms are made everyday by yet again women who speaks jibberish english along with hand gestures, but who cares anyway as long as they get the job done. It's my second visit to HK but this time around with an entourage (hubs and baby), this hostel provided the basic facilities that we needed, cause we were out most of the day, just back to basics would be fine. Our room has a balcony overlooking its small cute lawn... i extremely appreciated the land in HK cause there is hardly any....Laundry services are available, plus point for those travel in an entourage like us... MTR is just a bridge away, attached to the mall... With the 7Es and McD, if you can't live without it... All in all... We enjoyed our stay and worth every penny...

Taking the Hong Kong Airport Express was a smart move, taking me quickly and cheaply to central station in about 20 minutes. The Hong Kong Metro (MTR) is just as clean and efficient as their counterpart here in Korea, so I took the HK Island line to the last stop, Chai Wan. Having booked a room at the same hostel that the rest of the tour was staying at, I had printed directions in Chinese that proved to be useless. Cabbies and parking attendants alike were stumped in helping me find the Y-Loft, which turned out to be right under my nose. Once I found the Youth Square complex and the adjoining Y-Loft hotel/hostel, I quickly checked in and cranked up the A/C as the temperature and humidity had made me a hot, sweaty, tired traveler.

The room was clean, modern, and about 20 minutes from the hectic central district, so it was also fairly quiet. After watching a few episodes of an amusing Chinese police/action/drama called “Pretty Police Woman” and “The Hong Kong Society for the Aged Special Good Time Buddies“, I drifted off dreaming of sexy Asian policewomen and thoughts of exploring Hong Kong on my own in the morning until the tour group arrived.

The Y-loft is located in a terrific complex and the bi-lingual staff is wonderful, too. I highly recommend this as a inexpensive option without sacrificing comfort or amenities.

Room Tip: Have the staff show you around the entire complex when you arrive. The elevators and lay-out of the...

Y-Loft is very near to MTR station, easily accessible via foot over bridge from the station (Exit E).

It is situated on level 12. Hotel lobby is nice, staff is welcoming, polite and english speaking.

Rooms are quite big with LCD TV, writing table, fridge, personal WiFi for each room, electronic safe and wardrobe. Bathroom was clean and big enough with facility of hot & cold water.

I liked rooms very much because I have seen in Hong Kong hotel rooms are very small & some without window.

What I don't like is no breakfast. But since its like an hostel its okay.

Will return? Definitely. Staff can speak English well. Spacious clean room. Bring your own toileteries. but if you forget to bring some, you can buy in nearby convenience stores. Location is off the city, at the east end of Blue line MTR Hongkong, but public transport is nearby. Wanna go to Stanley, take public light bus no.16x.
Causewaybay Sogo of Wan chai pier?Bus 8P.
Central? Bus 780
HK airport? Bus A12 circular route on Wan Tsui road (Chak Tsui house)
Wanna shop or dim sum by walking distance? go to New Jade Mall or Hing Wah plaza..
Or ....you can take MTR in ChaiWan train station to go anywhere in Hong Kong. Don't forget to buy octopus card and top up the value. You can use it in many public transport and return and refund it after you left HK.
