Boutique Hotel located just next to Taikoo station. 15 min taxi from Hong Kong Station if taking Airport Express in.

Modern rooms that are based on asthetics rather than function. Good clean rooms none the less.

Suites have fantastic view of the harbour but Urban view rooms have someone's living room at your face. Typical of close proximity living i guess.

Room Tip: Urban view room is facing a condo.

Stayed here for one night for business. I really like the sleek design and the ambiance of the hotel. Room was small but very nicely furnished and cosy. Its has open bathroom concept.. small, but its adequate for a solo traveler.

Room service was prompt, and concierge was very helpful with small requests.

It has a very good restaurant on the first floor, good for breakfast and lunch (might be very packed during lunch hour so better book a table first)

If you stay at this hotel, you must go to 'Sugar', the rooftop bar on level 32. The view is breathtaking.

I was living in this hotel from october 12 to october 22, around 10 days.

dislikes:
1. i found this hotel is pretty dark, not just the rooms but the elevator as well.
2. The room is well designed but not the bathroom. The sink is not deep enough, so everytime when i wash my face the water spill out and i need to put a towel on the floor everyday just is very ignoring.
3. although i turn off the water after I took a shower, but there are some water dripping from the ceiling.
4. the room service is not detail enough. After the daily cleaning, i still found the cup is dirty and there are still some hair in the bathroom.
5. The bed and cover sheets are not soft or i can say pretty rough. If i am not tired enough, i don't think i will be able to get some sleep on it.
6. slow internet and it always disconnect so i need to retype the password in order to go online.
7. The breakfast they provide doesn't taste that great, it doesn't worth with that money. The ham and the bacon are so dry and hard.
8. I don't like people working there wearing sneakers. I don't think it's appropriate to wear them in a 4 star hotel (i heard it's a 4 star).
9. security card key is not sensitive enough, everytime we need to try a couple of times in order to go upstairs through the elevator and get into the room.
10. the "do not disturb" button is not properly explained to us after we checked in. We have no idea what's the red light means and we have to figure it out by ourselves.

likes:
1. well designed room accept the bathroom
2. a lot of channels to select from on the tv
3. Big space at this price.

Overall this hotel is not a cheap hotel but paying this much money getting this kind of service and quality just wasn't good enough. Personally, i won't book this hotel again.

I just returned from an extended business trip to Asia which included a stay at the East. I was in Singapore (Fullerton Hotel), Ho Chi Minh City (Intercontinental), and Bangkok (Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit). I didn't care for the East at all. The corner room I was in was tiny - but I know that is typical for Hong Kong in both hotels and apartments. I really didn't care for the room design - wide open walk-in shower with no door, floor to ceiling windows with venetian blind type shades that could not keep out the morning sunlight. The only place to sit was the desk chair or bed. The bed frame sticks out into the very narrow walkway and is a real shin buster.

The restaurant food was OK. Service was slow - it took 15 minutes to get a second cup of coffee at breakfast. Many other hotels bring a small pot of coffee - you have to ask for it at East.

The Pearl bar on the 32nd floor was a disappointment. During the days I was there, companies had taken it over for meetings and the Pearl was closed. The one evening I went up for a drink, there were several empty tables but I was told they were all reserved. I was shown to a "seat" at the bar - the "seat" was essentially an ottoman - horribly undomfortable - sort of like sitting on a toilet but with no back... I left after 5 minutes when the bartender ignored me.

Yes, the hotel is in a nice area and yes, there's a huge mall is next door. Whoopie... And, yes, the MTR station is there, too. A good thing.

So, I've given it a low rating for the above reasons. The staff was friendly, including the front desk and housekeeping folks. The room was clean. The water hot. The bed and pillows comfortable. The elevators were fast. The car service to and from the airport was just fine.

I titled this review as "Form over Function" because, in my opinion, too much thought was given to making a design statement and not enough to creating a comfortable place to spend a few nights.

Room Tip: Avoid corner rooms - there are windows on two sides and the shades are totally inadequate. Ask for...

We chose this Hotel based on other tripadvisor reviews and overall it worked for us. First and foremost it is mainly designed for business users but it can work for travelers if you have a flexible nature.

The good points are : Location, it is right next to a modern shopping mall and MTR station, if you know Hong Kong you will know that the transportation systems are probably the best in the world, some may think it is a bit far from the bright lights but that is not the case, nowhere is very far away in Hong Kong ( I used to live in this City)

The Hotel itself is ultra modern in design and in its function, the staff are all very young but I have to say they are all very efficient and polite. There is a "trendy" bar on the top floor with fantastic views, the food & drink is very good if not a little pricey. We found the breakfasts just ok.

The rooms themselves I suspect you will either love them or hate them, not quite hating them this was our only real negative, they are best described as open plan with no designated bathroom area and with no privacy, as I say it will be great for some but not for others, you have to know your partner very well if you get my drift, having said all that I would certainly use the hotel again.

Room Tip: book a room as high as possible for great veiws

My wife and I together with our daughter and son-in-law have just spent 8 days in Hong Kong and stayed at the East Hotel in North Point. We chose it because it was a new hotel and was out of the hustle and bustle of central Hong Kong.
It turned out to be a fantastic choice because this Hotel is amazing! It is brand new and the rooms are ultra modern. We had Harbour View rooms and the views were like something from a postcard - the whole width of the room was window!!! No need to worry about too much light to sleep - a block out blind made the room totally dark! The views from rooms on the city side were great too. Our room was fully equipped and quite large (not too sure about the toilet being behind frosted glass doors????) and the bed was totally comfortable and it was totally quiet! The Hotel offers FREE high speed wireless internet throughout the hotel, (about time the other 95% of hotels in the world provided this essential service!) catering especially for business travellers.
But it was the amazing service we received from all the staff that made our stay so great. Nothing was too much trouble for them and their politeness and service was five star!
Nowhere else in the world have we received such a standard of service - The East tops them all!
There is a restaurant/cafe on the first level, serving meals all day at very reasonable prices (the high tea was superb!) and a unique bar on level thirty called "Sugar" which has to be seen to be believed!
It is on top of the hotel and has indoor and outdoor seating with views out over Victoria Harbour and Kowloon Bay that will knock your socks off day or night! Drink prices were on a par with anywhere in HK and the staff can whizz up any tipple of your choice. It stays open until the wee small hours and serves meals and snacks as well. Suffice to say we spent quite some time there!
The location of The East means it is quite a distance from the city centre, but with an MTR station located next door it took us about twenty minutes to get to Central on the fast, clean, cheap trains which run no longer than 5 minutes apart!
There is the huge City Plaza shopping mall next door which has many restaurants and a food court, so there is no need to travel at all if you don't want to. Times Square shopping mall was 10 minutes by MTR and the up-market Pacific Place 15 minutes away, so shoppers can be in paradise very quickly!
Overall, if you want a great place to stay and don't mind using public transport to get about then I can thoroughly recommend this Hotel!

Room Tip: If you can afford it go for the Harbour View rooms, although the City View ones are great too!
