“Not Bad”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 1, 2014 via mobile

The wanton noodle is good but not outstanding. Could have eaten noodles of similar standards elsewhere.

The congee was great.

Overall, nice but may not go back again.

“Delicious break in the day.....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2014

I went to Tasty Congee & Noodle Wantun Shop at the IFC with my cousin on a whim. We wanted something light and delicious, and as she had been before, I was quick to oblige. We ordered dried orange peel and white fish congee which was truly the best I have ever tasted! The congee was cooked to perfection, and the subtle flavor of the orange peel was truly outstanding. The fish was fresh and beautifully presented. We also ordered a few traditional desserts such as white almond soup, and red date with egg. Everything was very tasty, and the decor elegant and beautiful. I highly recommend this place for a light meal or "yum cha" break in the day.

“Excellent food, uninterested staff”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2014

The best food we tasted during my weekend in Hong Kong, particluarly the pork dim sum.

However the staff were uninterested and communicated with us as little as possible. We were ignored repeatedly on arrival and when eventually seated, locals who arrived after us received their food before we even had our order taken.

Maybe we just caught them on a bad day but the service was appalling and good enough reason to not return.

“Needs a decent manager”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2014

I usually have a take away at lunchtime. The food is actually quite tasty especially the congee, so no issues with the name. However, there is just one lady who is tasked with taking orders (in person and by phone) and then sorting out the food when it arrives; putting it in the right bags and giving it to right customers. Although she does a fantastic job, as you can imagine it ends up in bedlam. Food just sits there waiting to be sorted as she tries to take orders and when she is trying to sort the food out the queues to order food get longer and longer. I know it is a busy time but this happens every single lunch time and no one is sent to assist ever. They lose customers each time I go as people get frustrated with the poor organisation. I'm not sure I can be bothered to go back.

“Tasty!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2014

We were staying nearby on connaught road and after a long day shopping in the IFC mall we wanted some tasty Chinese food. There are only two Chinese restaurants in the mall and all the other restaurants, though good, are quite pricey. After spending so much money elsewhere we just wanted a cheap and cheerful meal and that's exactly what we got at tasty congee and noodle!
It was so good I actually went again for dinner another evening. The first time we went was about 6pm so we didn't have to queue. The second time was around 8pm and we had to queue but the wait was only about 15 minutes. We ordered the pork buns (delicious), spring rolls, noodles with sweet and sour pork, noodles with shredded pork and wanton noodles. All very good. Would recommend the pork! Service was ok, had to flag down waiters whenever I needed something but i think that is the norm in Hong Kong. Got all our meals very quickly and were in and out in about 60 minutes max. This restaurant has quite a quick turnover. Decor is nice and modern considering it is a cheap fast serve restaurant. All in all very good!
