“Excellent Hotel, great price, good location but no outdoor pool”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

Arrived at HKIA yesterday and travelled by the airport train to Central. Cosk HK$100 and took 23 minutes into the city. Beside the taxi rank there is a free bus shuttle to the main hotels and our bus to the Harbour Grand left from H2 and took around 15 minutes.

Check in in the beautiful marble reception. We were allocated a room on the 29th floor with a lovely view of the harbour. Room has a massive comfortable bed at it's heart. Small office space atbthe window. Bathroom delightfully finished with a superb shower and bath.the bathroom has a glass wall but helpfully has an electric shutter for privacy.

Disappointing to discover pool is out of action until March

Room Tip: Get a room in the higherbfloorsvwith view of the harbour

We travelled as a family for our annual holiday over the Chinese new year. This was our fourth visit to Hong Kong and found this Hotel to be the best so far.We stayed in Club rooms with a fantastic view of the harbour. The hotel was situated fine for us,only five minutes walk to Fortress Hill MTR.Breakfast was always first class, and we also had a couple of meals in the hotel in the evening which were fine. Finally we would like to commend all the staff especially Grace,Gabrielle and Marcus for their helpfulness throughout our stay.

Room Tip: Always opt for Club Rooms.

This is a very clean luxurious hotel with a great breakfast (we upgraded to the club rooms) and delightful free afternoon tea and cocktails and canapes in the evening. The room was very nice, clean with good toiletries. I had a couple of issues but these were subsequently sorted out to my satisfaction. The only downside is that this is the second year running we have stayed and the pool still wasnt available plus there is a charge for internet which really, in this day and age, shouldnt be. It feels a bit greedy and most places now offer free wifi. Still it was in a useful area, close to MTR and the staff were nice. If the wifi and swimming pool were fixed it would be a four star if not a five star

Room Tip: upgrade to club

A pleasant surprise and very reasonable for HK. Received an upgrade to club room which is always appreciated. Good view of the harbour and Kowloon.

The room was smallish, however well equipped and a decent shower.

The hotel is from 4 stops past Central on the MTR and is very easy to get to from the airport as you can simply get the Airport Express and then then MTR. The hotel is approx 150m from Fortress Hill Station. This all means that although you are away from central area you can access it really easily.

Breakfast was good and in line with what you would expect for this class of hotel.

Wifi was included in the room rate and speed was fast.

Would stay again

We stayed for two nights and on arrival asked for a late check out on last day due to midnight flight. We were offered a club room for approx £170 which offered a 5pm late checkout as well as many other features such as breakfast, drinks, wi-fi, afternoon tea. We took the package and were really pleased.
I can't add anything else to what others have said, i.e. location, construction work, noisy rooms, close to MTR, local busses and cheapish taxis.
Staff were very good.
Overall an enjoyable stay.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, over all, we had a wonderful stay. The location of the hotel is slightly off the beaten track, but the subway is very cheap and straightforward to use. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. The drinks in the bar were quite expensive, as you would imagine in a hotel in a main city.

The bar and restaurant on the top floor have breathtaking views.

The gym facility was great, the pool wasn't open while we were there. But will be fab when it opens.

Consierge was keen to get us on expensive trips, we did the tourist bus independently, it was much cheaper and we saw much more.

I would most definitely stay here again, I felt it was great value for money.

We stayed at the Harbour Grand over the Lunar New Year holiday. Upon walking in the lobby, we were taken back by the grandeur and beauty. However, that is the end of that. The hotel is itself is well kept and clean but there is not a lot to it. Perhaps having the pool closed has handicapped it more than expected. The concierge staff helped us daily with tips on where to eat, where to go, how to get everywhere, and even where to buy personal items. They were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel truly "nickle and dimes" you on top of what is already a very high nightly rate. There is no kitchen for room service, only a snack menu that is supremely overpriced. With such an expensive rate, you would assume wifi would be included, which it is not, and use of the business center costs additional, and even more for any service you would like to use there. The only thing free is the 2 bottles of water per day.
We paid extra to upgrade to a harbor view from our room to see the fireworks. The outside windows were so dirty though, it is apparent they haven't cleaned the outside of the building in a very, very long time. It tainted the view. We stayed on the 26th floor which would have been picturesque, had we been able to see clearly. The room itself was clean and large enough. The glass walls of the bathroom give it a modern feel and the retractable curtain is a nice touch. We used the hot tub but getting in and out is a little difficult if you have any knee trouble.
We really enjoyed staying out of the busy hustle of the main part of HK. The hotel is a quick walk to the MTR and just down Electricity Rd to great restaurants and scenery.
With the exception of the wonderful concierge and front house staff, this hotel is a bit over rated. The price is too high for them not to include any complimentary services (not even breakfast!). The location is nice if you don't want to be around the main busy part of the city, but be prepared for noise from the construction surrounding the building and the other guests who allow their children to run around screaming down the hallways. Would be nice if staff did rounds to monitor the hallways and noise levels.
