“Honeymoon in Hong Kong - Magical”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

My wife and I recently visited Hong Kong and stayed at the Harbour Grand Hong Kong. From the booking stages with the reservation department, through to the check in and guest services we were extremely pleased with the high level of excellence and hospitality we received. The facilities are second to none offering only the best.

The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and compassionate to the smallest requests.

We were disappointed with the noise level due to the current renovation and the swimming pool being closed for repair but have no doubt that management and staff made every effort from changing rooms to a quieter side of the hotel to moving floors to alleviate the problem. Granted the noise from the road front is a bit high as a result but such is the hustle and bustle nature of Hong Kong.

The hotel is exquisite with some of the best guest service staff I have had the pleasure of meeting throughout my international travels.

Arrived for a 10 night stay 28th oct-7 november. We was quickly checked in and given the required room we needed as i was staying with a disabled traveler, once in the room on the 12th floor we was impressed with the size of the room and with the view of victoria harbour.
We was informed that the swimming pool wasnt going to be ready and that we could use their other hotel if we required the pool. The gym was good had about 11 pieces of equipment for cardio use and then a multi gym to work muscles etc and various weights.
We had the buffet breakfast each day which we was well impressed with it because it had some great foods and the food was always fresh. When they seated us they got us fresh tea and coffee whilst we went and chose our food. The view from the harbour grand cafe was extensive and often you would see cruise ships coming in and going out.
I found the hotel to be in a great location as soon as you step out of the hotel there was a few workshops but if you walked to fortess hill mtr about a 5 minute walk there was a wellcome ( supermarket) and various different food outlets( mcdonalds, burger king, subway and oliver's super sandwiches) and there was two starbucks in walking distance from the hotel as well as various other local shops.
Either side of the hotel they are carrying out major building works which started early but i cant say it really bothered us as we was up and out. The hotel had informed us that they was carrying out their own building works which were taking place around 10am-6pm but we were always out so it did not affect us.
When going out the staff from concierge was very helpful in asking where we was going and did we want anything writing down so the taxi driver could understand it. Very helpful.
Whilst there i had to use the business centre to access the internet facilites which was a rate of £50 hong kong dollars (about 4 pounds gbp) but if you had loads to do they let you stay on after your 15 minutes had expired.
Our stay was perfect and the staff was splendid i'd like to say a massive thanks to all of them for their hard work and we gladly appreciated it in our stay and we would go back again soon.

Room Tip: Add buffet breakfast when you book it,might work out cheaper then paying it every day.

in a so called luxury hotel, winner of a tripadvisor award, well shown at the desk, you might at least expect that the lights in the room can be switched off.
After 1hr, past midnight, 3 people coming and going in my room messing up the ceiling, I'm still awake.
Unacceptable!!!!

A quite awe inspiring hotel as you walk into the lobby. And with a very friendly yet speedy welcome at the check in desk the good first impression continues.

The lifts to the rooms are both speedy as well as immaculate.

The rooms equally do not disappoint. I was upgraded to an Executive Harbour View Suite on the 38th floor with fantastic views of both the harbour and across to Kowloon, a view even available while sitting in the bathtub.

The food was excellent, from an almost impossible to know what to choose from on an almost endless breakfast counter to the seductive charm of the top floor restaurant, Le 188.

A hotel I would both recommend to others and indeed would return myself if ever in Hong Kong again.

One recommendation I would make is to arm yourself with 2 things, a good guide book and a HK$55.00 daily Tourist Pass from the nearby Fortress Hill MRT station which will get you either anywhere or within reach of anywhere in HK, Kowloon or Lantau Island, a lot cheaper then any organised tour.

Room Tip: go for the best you can afford

North Point isn't exactly miles from the action, but there isn't that much in the neighbourhood. That said, Harbour Grand is a good, clean option for budget luxury with very friendly and helpful staff and fairly good facilities (pool still closed post-fire).

Room Tip: The rooms are small -- it was worth upgrading to a Premier Harbour View room.

We stayed at the Harbour Grand for 6 night in Sept/Oct 2012. We had a nice room overlooking Victoria Harbour. However we asked for a kingsize bed but was given two twin beds so wasn't very happy with that. We didn't have breakfast as it was too expensive nor did we have wireless as that too was so expensive. Also the staff were very unfriendly & reception unhelpful. I guess for a large hotel you don't get that kind of service.

The hotel is a good base for HK. It is only 5 minutes from the nearest metro station - Fortress Hill. Hong Kong is a fantastic place & we had such a great time. We didn't spend much time in the hotel so we just put up with it.I would not recommend this hotel. Although nice, the hotel lacked character & the staff so unhelpful. Our room was expensive so were very dissapointed with the service & unhelpful, unfriendly staff.

We plan to visit HK again but will be staying elsewhere.

Have stayed at this hotel many times for several years. The BEST part of this hotel is the STAFF. The rooms are usually very nice and clean. The only negative part is that for such a luxury hotel, some upgrading should be done. Along with updating the TVs and the programing. The program availability is rather limited.
