You can easily tell why this island currently attracts so many visitors; its rustic, almost untapped setting. hundreds of fishing boats line the pier, so colorful, it makes the horizon look amazing especially during sunset. For more of to dos and eats in cheung chau read my review --> http://shauneeie.blogspot.sg/2014/08/cheung-chau-island-where-past-means.html

A nice excursion away from HK city, travel to the island by taking a ferry from Pier no 5 at Central. The ride takes approximately 45 minutes, and when you arrived, walk along the streets and there are plenty of seafood restaurants for you to choose from.

After that, take a stroll or rent a bike and travel around the island.

It is an old fishing village with no cars - it's like a time warp! The ferry trip over is cheap and brilliant! Take the slow ferry and buy the "deluxe" ticket. This gets you onto the top deck which is air conditioned!! (And has an outdoor section!) The trip takes 55minutes and takes you through the busy harbour and past several small islands - wonderful. (Or you can take the fast ferry - 30minutes)

It was nice to make an excursion to one of Hong Kong's outer islands. I chose this one for the many restaurants near the ferry terminal. I enjoyed walking along the foreshore and looking at all the boats as well as visiting the market stalls. Disappointed to see a McDonalds there, seemed out of character. Only emergency vehicles are allowed, but that doesn't mean that you still don't need to look out for the many bicycles. A good day out.

Best of the island certainly is the market: ypu can eat all kinds of delicious seafood. The island is small and can be walked (there are different circuits very easy to find and follow, there is no problem). It is very popular and crow during the weekend (but everything is very populous in HK, so it's not new). A cute alternative to go, if you are spending a few days in HK.
