“Small & Amazing”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

Went there for a day trip from Lantau Island. The island itself is small and it can be circled in 3-4 hours time by walk. Seafood is cheap. There is a trail lead you to another side of the island, the sea view is very breathtaking.

“A different side of Hong Kong”
Reviewed December 26, 2012 via mobile

To get to Cheung Chau Island you can catch the normal or fast ferry from Central. Normal ferry takes about 45 minutes. Fast ferry about half the time. A great way to see the island is to hire a bike. The island has no cars so it's safe to ride around for all ages. They are lots to see and do.

“Lovely area”
Reviewed December 25, 2012

Enjoyed our few days on this island, very crowded with bikes and motorized vehicles down in the shopping area. There's a McDonald's, a Watson's, a couple of groceries and lots of random eating areas and some shopping. No one takes any credit cards, but we did find an ATM. People were very friendly and I found some interesting shops. We stayed on top of the hill at a lovely private residence. Lots of really neat walking areas and breathtaking sights looking at the ocean.

“Everybody liked Cheung Chau”
Reviewed December 19, 2012

We caught the fast ferry from terminal 5 of the Pier which only takes about 25-30 minutes to reach the island. The ferry is a bargain to at 24hkd (£2ish) each way.

We went on a Saturday and there was a market right opposite the port. There are also a number of shops and fish restaurants lined up along the port.

You feel like your doing what the locals do when you go to Cheung Chau and thats probably the best way that I can desribe it.

“What a little gem.”
Reviewed December 19, 2012

Enjoyed it so much we went again and explored the island taking in the mini wall of china walk - OMG its a long way to walk :) not ideal for those of you with restricted mobility. The seafood was fantastic and we stayed for the sun set which was also breath taking over the harbour whilst the locals went about their day to day lives. This is also easily accessed by ferry from Pier 5 and agin cheap to travel (about £1.80 each way) and regular services via ferry or fast ferry.
