Good for: Romantic, Special occasions, Local cuisine, Business meetings, Scenic view
Dining options: Breakfast, Late Night, Dinner, Lunch, Delivery, Reservations
Neighborhood: Tsim Sha Tsui
Description: Reminiscent of an ancient family courtyard in one of Peking's fast disappearing hutongs (courtyard houses set between narrow lanes), Hutong's interiors are set against the most breathtaking skyline of any international metropolis. This is not the only surprise. The sense of adventure and sheer avant-garde creativity continues in the innovating cuisine inspired by the culinary styles of Peking and Shandong province.

“Big let down”
Reviewed January 18, 2013 via mobile

We visited Hong Kong and were looking for a nice night out with views. The reviews looked good, however we were very disappointed.

The restaurant is very dark and has a slightly dingy feel. Little stuffy and claustrophobic.

We chose the set menu tasting plate as so many things in the menu looked good. The entrees were ok. Mains were all the same 'hot and spicy'. Instead of a selection of flavours both were really hit. The Szechuan prawns were do hot I could not eat them. It would have been nice to have one spicy dish and another variety of dish.

Cost!!! It was supposed to be reasonably priced but was our most expensive meal in HK. $400 for 2 with only tasting plate and 2 glasses of wine.

I strongly suggest if you want a classy meal with a view seek other options.

“Magnificent View on 28th floor”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

Food was excellent. Had the duck, chiili prawns, bokchoy and spicy fried rice and they were all excellent. Very good and friendly service. If you want a window stable you would have to book.

“Excellent. Great place”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

Where to begin?
Ambience: moody dark lighting, all glass walls with a great view of HK harbour. Nuff said!

Food: Everything we ordered was good-great. The most memorable dishes were the sichuan style 'ma lai' prawns and the aptly named 'double happiness' (barbequed wild boar). 'Double happiness' is literally happiness x2!

Drink: Theres a bar/restaurant upstairs that serves excellent cocktails and offers the same views. Hutong itself has a good wine list, sake list and offers a variety of Chinese wines (plum based - not everyones cup of tea)

Price: It aint cheap (about £70-£100 per head - thats with plenty of alcohol). However, i have no hesitation in saying that its worth it.

If the price is not an issue then by all means go to Hutong. It was the best meal we had in Hong Kong!

“Dinner overlooking HK harbour”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

Hutong was recommended to me by a colleague at work. We enjoyed the degustation menu and while the food was very good I believe I have eaten as well in Sydney. The service was polite and prompt. The stunning views of Hong Kong harbour and the laser show in the creative atmosphere of the restaurant combined with the dining experience made for a very pleasant night. The toilet had to be seen to be believed - I have never been to a more ornate mens' room! One suggestion would be to get the windows cleaned a little more often.

“My favorite HK Restaurant”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

We've been going to Hutong for about six years now and if there was one restaurant i would recommend or friends visiting Hong Kong to, this is the one. The view is amazing. The decor is very chic Chinese and though some say it's too dark, I like it that way. The food is very good and it's not too pricey relative to other top restaurants in HK. I love the soft shell crab, and can't help from ordering it even though I know I'll pay for it the next day (i.e. SPICY). All in all, if you are here as a tourist and looking for an excellent up scale chinese food experience, this restaurant is one you really should check out. You won't be disappointed.
