“Nice but expensive”
Reviewed May 6, 2012

Visited with a group of friends on a very wet and stormy Friday night. Welcomed by the staff and shown to our table on the terrace, despte the weather all suitably covered in. Food we ordered, which was mainly Tapas was fresh and very nice and served by pleasant staff. The wine selection was very good if a little pricey. The group who are able to sing almost anything, we asked for a Lady Ga Ga song and they performed it admirably, were very entertaining and wandered around the restaurant playing different songs at each table. All in all a very enjoyable evening

“Tasty food;Great atmosphere”
Reviewed March 29, 2012

Situated in the restored Murray house, Mijas is a great place for a relaxed dinner with tasty Spanish food. Even if some of the items are not authentic Spanish the food is of a high standard and to many will appear as Spanish. Have eaten outside on the balcony, inside in the smart exterior and this time in their glass walled private dining room with our party of 8. Food was delicious and hot, wines reasonably priced and Spanish, strolling minstrels for the tourists!

“Delicioso and 好吃”
Reviewed August 1, 2011

Eating at Mijas Spanish restaurant totally makes you forget you are in the shopping haven of southeast Asia. The relaxed atmosphere and the bay side feel of the restaurant would remind you of your favorite beach getaway.

I found it unusual to be savoring Spanish cuisine in Hong Kong when I should be sampling all kinds of dimsum, Peking duck, roasted goose, suckling pig, steamed seafood, and all the different kinds of street food.

Mijas Spanish restaurant is located at the Stanly Waterfront Park, which is located at the southern part of Hong Kong island. I've been to Hong Kong many times and I never saw this part of the island until this time. The place is lovely and quiet, unlike the bustling parts of Causeway Bay or Tsim Tsa Shui.

For starters, we had tapas and oysters. The tapas or thinly sliced meat were very good. Delicioso as how the Spaniards would say. Then came the pricey raw oysters that cost us HK$120 for three pieces. Wherever they got those oysters, they still tasted like oysters anywhere else. I could have bought kilos and kilos of oysters back home with that amount of money.

For the main course, we had roasted suckling pig and paella. If the oysters were disappointing, these two dishes more than made up for it. The roasted suckling pig was tasty and tender. And the skin was crispy! The paella was well-cooked and flavorful. It came with a generous toppings of large prawns, chicken, meat, and other seafood.

And while you enjoy your dinner at Mijas, you get to be entertained with their in-house singers who go from table to table to sing your favorite songs.

Feliz comiendo.

“Nice location...horrible food”
Reviewed March 26, 2011

We went to Mijas last night thinking we would get authentic tapas. The ambience is fine but the food was really bad. The shrimp was very fishy. The lobster bisque luke warm. Really not authentic Spanish nor was it worth the money.
