A new boutique hotel. Rooms are not huge but big enough and the bathroom is definitely adequate. Has a safe and fridge and coffee making facilities. Very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Situated between Mongkok and Olympic MTR stations ( easy walking distance ) The hotel provides a shuttle bus every hour, which stops at three places that give easy access to all of Hong Kong. Also not far from Mongkok Ladies Market. Would definitely stay there again. Good value.

We were checked in by delightfully friendly reception staff without any hassle. We were offered a larger room at an increased rate which we declined. Taking the elevator to our room we found our room, small indeed but there was everything we needed including tea and coffee making tray, hair drier, i-pod docking and the most comfortable of beds. The windows were almost floor to ceiling which gave the impression of increased space within. The bathroom was also tiny but clean with a sunken shower cubicle. The concierge guys were really helpful and wrote addresses for us to give the taxi drivers. The free of charge shuttle bus service worked fine for us, taking us to the Langham and MTR stations. The location was ideal for us, plenty of local cafes and restaurants and we appreciated the eco aware design. Would definitely stay here again.

Location
Conveniently situated in Kowloon, about 5-10mins away from two useful MTR stations (Mong Kok near the Langham Centre is a little further away through open roads; Olympic can be reached via a long covered walkway after walking 2mins down one adjacent road). There are several decent shops within a 100m radius including 7-eleven, a bakery, various grocery shops, restaurants (including, should you be so inclined, a 24h McDonalds immediately opposite the hotel). The airport is a ~250 HKD cab ride away (price at June 2013).

Reception
The reception was a grand, tall-ceiling'd marble affair with plenty of (English speaking) staff at hand. They were attentive, if sometimes a little busy, and the lobby has free wifi, so there always seemed to be folk loitering to use their laptops.

Room
We had a superior room with a queen bed. The room was immaculate (in terms of cleaning) on arrival and maintained to a very high standard on a daily basis. Bottled water was supplied gratis, as were mini-toiletries which were topped up as required. The view we had over the city-scape was pleasant and a massive bay window kept the room light and airy. There was a full size mirror on one wall which made the room seem larger, lighter and also helped greatly with getting ready in the mornings. There was also a small hanging area, a personal safe with electronic keylock (albeit not large enough to keep a small laptop) and a minibar. The TV was of a good size, but we didn't really check to see what the channel selection was like.

We noticed only two things that could have been attended to - the window blind was damaged (but functional), there were some pipes and wires visible in the bathroom that could have been concealed.

Bathroom
The bathroom was very small and very close to the main room with a non-occlusive glass sliding door to separate it. We would have preferred having a little more separation between the toilet and general living area, but this was not as bad as we had envisaged when we first arrived. The rainforest shower was very nice, with good pressure and always had hot water available. There was also a conventional shower, but no bath. The shower area was actually quite roomy - but the curtain didn't stop water cascading into the toilet and sink area, which meant we needed a fresh floor towel each day. Despite connecting to the main room, condensation was never really a problem as the room temperature was controlled by an air conditioning unit that was, apparently, supposed to be left on even when the guests were out of the room. Not sure how that fits with the green credentials of the hotel?

Bed
A nice, firm mattress, of a decent size and with sufficiently thick sheets to be comfortable but not stuffy. We found the pillows quite adequate. The sheets were clean, fresh and of good quality.

Internet
We opted for internet access in our room. This was fast, easy to use and fairly consistent. Only on one occasion did we have an access problem.

Gym
The gym was sparsely supplied with one treadmill, one cross trainer, some free weights and some mirrors. It was, however, open 24 hr. There seemed to be short queues for the machines.

Restaurant
We never tried the restaurant - there was just too many other great places to eat just around the corner.

Conclusion
First of all, in response to some of the other reviews: when staying in a large metropolitan city where real estate is at a premium, you should expect your money to pay primarily for the "rent". This is the case with Cosmo, where the room is compact - but no more so than we found in New York or London. If you're looking for a big room, expect to pay half as much again. Admittedly, the gym was a bit of a disappointment, but for the price, we found Cosmo to be clean and well maintained with all the necessary amenities we required to stay comfortably while enjoying the city outside the hotel. The location was excellent, with close access to Hong Kong Island as well as the big shopping areas of Kowloon and plenty of conveniences within a 5 minute walk, including plenty of places to have a really good breakfast. We would happily stay here again if our budget was the same.

We (party of 3 including my 4yr old) enjoyed our 4D3N stay at this compact hotel for several reasons:
1. Cleanliness. The sheets are clean, shower area immaculate and best of all, no smell of cig. Instead of bathtub, the bathroom has a rainshower head much to my delight.

2. Location. While its not exactly near the MTR station, it's near many amenities, eateries and shops. There were no need to take the breakfast in the hotel given that there's plenty of 'cha chaan teng' (tea restaurants) stone-throw away to sample all the delectable dimsum.

3. Staff service. Almost all the staff particularly the concierge are very helpful and patient in explaining and giving directions/recommendations to suggested places to visit, eat or shop. The free shuttle bus always leave and arrive on time which makes it easier for anyone to plan.

Note: The normal rooms are rather small and compact with minimal furnishing. Guest that are used to being pampered lavishly might want to pay a bit more to get larger rooms. The double bed we had is small but its doable with 3 of us. May not be suitable for those with claustrophobia though.

Dear Brotherbill

Thank you for your sharing your experience at Cosmo Hotel Mongkok with us. We are pleased to learn that you enjoyed your stay.

Location wise, in fact, the nearest Olympic MTR station is only about 4 mins walk from the hotel. Alternatively, you may take our free shuttle service to Mongkok MTR station, which takes only 5 mins. In fact, We are located midway between Mongkok and Tai Kok Tsui where many exciting city happenings can be found here, such as Ladies Market and Temple Street; as well as mega shopping mall like Langham Place – it really is the best place to experience the lives of the locals.

For guestroom size, we offer five room types and the Suite Air and Room Family Quad sizing up to 42 sq.m. can accommodate a travel group of 4 comfortably. You may try it on your next visit for a more spacious and relaxing stay experience with us.

We look forward to welcoming you and your family back in the near future.

We enjoyed our two nights in this modern hotel, as well as it's eco-consciousness. Our room was very small but considering other rooms I've stayed in in cities such as NYC and London, it was probably average for a metropolitan location. The room was also modern and clean, had massive windows and a great view (we were on the 19th floor) and was decently laid out for a room that size. They also had a nice design feature in the minuscule bathroom: the shower was depressed into the floor so water didn't go everywhere. We felt the bed was comfortable and the room was very quiet and relaxing.
The location was good and the hotel was easy to reach from two different metro stops by walking, or by taking a shuttle provided to/from one of them. Their shuttle also went to the Harbor area, and that was very convenient. There are plenty of places to get food in the neighborhood, as well as a small grocery store that is catty-corner, and a 24-hour McDonald's across the street. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, and they spoke great English which is always helpful. They were happy to hold our luggage on our last day and when they found out one bag contained camera equipment, they stowed it in the back office which was much appreciated.
We did get a deal on this room but I was very happy with our stay and felt it was a great value.
