“Not bad for the price”
Reviewed March 31, 2012

We stayed for four days and had no major complaints about the room, or the service. The bed was rather short but we were able to work aound it. Anyone over 6 foot tall wouln't be so lucky however. Breakfast was a bit of let-down, and the staff in the restaurant weren't very friendly, but given that we were only in the restaurant for a few minutes each day, it didn't matter much. Close to many fun places and easy to find. Having wi-fi only in the lobby was a bit of a negative for those in need of it, but didn't bother us.

Thank you for writing about us and that you had an enjoyable stay with us. Our bed is from the worldly famous Simmons brand and the measurements adhere to the international standard. Staff at the restaurant offers sincere service and we also have hotel staff at the breakfast room to assist guests in the morning. Location-wise, the hotel is just minutes away from international shopping malls and also local culture landmarks such as Ladies Market, Jade Market and Temple Street night market. Our concierge team is more than delighted to give recommendations as well as directions and ensure each of your day is spent with fun and pleasure. Free WiFi is accessible in the hotel lobby and restaurant for costless surfing.

The hotel is fine but not great. Pros: rooms are neat and clean, service is friendly, the are sufficient breakfast options. Cons: Reception is slow because of tons of paperwork, rooms are really tiny and wifi is not free in the rooms (it is in the seatingless lobby). Metro is several blocks away. About 30 minutes from the airport by taxi.

We are happy to learn that you reckon our rooms are neat and clean with friendly service and good breakfast selections. Your comments regarding speed of service is noted and we will pay attention to it. In terms of rooms, we have 5 different types with a room size ranging from 18 to 42 sq m. Free WiFi is available in the hotel lobby and also restaurant on 2/F while two 3-seater couch and some chairs are provided in the lobby for guest comfort when surfing the internet. The nearest subway station is only a 4-min walk away and Nathan Road full of entertainment and shopping options is a 10-min walk from the hotel. For guest convenience, daily free shuttle is available between the hotel and Mong Kok (Langham Place Mall and Mong Kok subway station), Tsim Sha Tsui (Canton Road and Harbour City) and West Kowloon (Elements and Airport Express Kowloon station onwards for express train to Airport).

Besides reading good reviews about this hotel. I personally experienced a very satisfying 4 nights stay. Though its not world class but definitely value for money. From online booking until checking out, the service and followups from hotel management were very assuring. Though the location is a little far from Mongkok mtr, but the free bus shuttle made up alot for it. Definitely will plan another stay with Cosmo Hotel whenever I'm stopping by hk!

After attending the ASIAN FILM AWARDS/FILMART/HAF events in Hongkong, I decided to stay at the Cosmo Mongkok. Looking at its photos from its website, I got very excited to stay at this hotel.

CRAMPED ROOM
When I got my room (#618), I was quickly disillusioned and disappointed! The room is cramped (even smaller than the Japanese-style rooms that i have stayed at in Nikko Hotels in SFO), no room for luggage, the bed is right next to the glass toilet - there was not even a full chair to sit on after a long day out! You wouldn't even want to stay inside your room for long because you will feel claustrophobic! I asked to be transferred to another room but they claimed that it was fully booked! Thirty minutes after I grudgingly took out my stuff and toiletries, the front desk calls and says that there was another room at the 20th floor - but it was pretty much the same size and lay-out! Never, ever again will I stay here.

BAD AREA
The area that you will walk through to get to and from the MTR (both Olympia and MongKok Stations) are crowded and dusty - not safe especially at night. The views from the room is butt ugly so you need to pull down the shades and you end up staring at the few square meters around your bed!

BRIGHT SPOT
The only bright spot that this hotel can be proud of is their courteous staff - both the front desk and the concierge people. Housekeeping, perhaps because they do not speak English well, is another story.

Good thing my father did not come with me on this particular trip. Even if I was alone in this room, I already felt very cramped - two people cannot definitely sleep comfortably in their rooms. Awful!

Thank you for the review. Cosmo Hotel Mongkok provides 5 different room categories that comes in various sizes and views for guests to choose from. Ranging from 18 to 42 sq m, our Suite and Family Room are even spacious enough to fit in 3 and 4 guests respectively and we also have rooms that over look the city junction or the mountains. As a matter of fact, all rooms are smartly designed to release more space for movement and luggage storage. Our guest services manager will also try their best to arrange a room change upon possible hotel situation and always follow up the next day if a room change is not available at that very moment. Location-wise, The hotel is a few minutes’ walk from nearest subway Olympic station and the myriad Nathan Road in Mong Kok. Mong Kok a densely populated area filled with lots of happenings and entertainments day and night and it is definitely a good start for a local Hong Kong experience. Like any other world-class cities, Hong Kong is crowded yet socially secure with regular police patrols in the street, there shouldn’t be anything to worry about for travelers.

On the other hand, we are very pleased to know that you are happy with our staff especially at the front desk and concierge. All of our staff receive regular language trainings and are communicative in Cantonese, English and Mandarin. We hope our courteous staff will bring you back with us soon! Thank you.

As this is our first time staying in Cosmo Hotel, it was a wonderful experience. As our baby girl was very sick, called the reception and the Guest Service Manager by the name of Sanny Chan came to our room and gave us a name card of the clinic that was directly across the hotel. He even went to the extent of visiting me at the clinic to see how my daughter was. Given the level of service rendered by yourself and your team, you would say that we would definitly return to HK again and stay in your hotel again.

I have been going to Hongkong for several years now and this is the first time I was ever in a cramped room. The website shows amazing photos but the room I have chosen (Cosmorganic) was small even for one person. There was no place to store luggage. My bed was directly beside the shower and toilet glass enclosure. They did not replenish the toiletries on a daily basis (although I always bring my own). The carpet was dirty. If they could not maintain the cream color, they should have chosen a darker shade.

I booked way in advance and was the only hotel available then which offered a good rate with buffet breakfast which was a disappointment as well because they served the same thing every single day at the Cinnecita Restaurant. The staff went about their business without smiling. Same thing with the Reception Area.

There are just about 2 good things about this hotel - the excellent concierge service and free shuttle transport to either the Langham Place, the Airport Express, the Elements Mall and the Ferry Terminal at the Royal Pacific Tower.

This boutique hotel is relatively new but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone else.

Thank you for the review. All images on the hotel website are taken on the spot while room size of each room categories is stated on the website as well. All rooms are also smartly designed to spare more spaces for storage/movement. Amenities are supposed to be replenished daily while guest can always call for the housekeeping team if any stock up is required. For the carpet, as a matter of fact, vacuum cleaning will be done in all rooms on a daily basis and anytime on request. The carpet will also go under maintenance regularly and deep carpet cleaning will be done whenever required. Please be assured we will pay extra attention to avoid similar case in the future.

Regarding breakfast service, we will take note and reflect to the restaurant staff directly. We will also brief all the reception staff for service quality and ensure all of them receive regular service trainings and hope next time you are with us, their service will be up to and even beyond your standard. Lastly, thank you for your compliments on our concierge staff and the free shuttle service. Hope to see you again soon!

We liked the Cosmo hotel. Some of the wonderful things:
- the service (requests to the front desk were quickly and willingly accommodated)
- the view from room 1816
- the rainfall shower
- the bathroom fixtures were cool
- the bakery across the street
- the breakfast buffet (although a little pricey it included both western and asian options)
- being able to experience the local neighborhood and the nearby Langham Place

There were a few things that could have been better:
- free Wifi (it was in the lobby and restaurant, but not in the rooms). This meant that the lobby was often packed with guests trying to use their computers.
- Small rooms with no storage (we have been in small rooms before and don't bring large luggage, but there were only two small drawers and a few hangers on a hook. it was impossible to unpack.
- Carpet stains in room, and the comforter had a small hole in it on the top.
- The frosted glass bathroom walls and sliding door were cool, but the door didn't close all of the way, lacking somewhat in privacy

By staying in Mongkok, you really get a different sense of Hong Kong than staying on the the island. Much more traditional. Much less modern - except for Langham place.

The hotel is doing some remodeling or adding rooms to the property. They are also very interested in feedback. (They encouraged us to post to tripadvisor.) It was a very good value for us.

Room Tip: High floor with a view of the water.
