We went on a thurs night, after days of Chinese food we really wanted comfort food - a good ol' steak. We were recommended The Steak house in Intercon but because it was in Kowloon, we didn't want to go there. Concierge at our nice hotel recommended Dakota so we tried it. Great location - right in Central - beats going to the Kowloon. The place was very different from what we were expecting, steak house - dim light dark wood - but it wasn't! To our surprise it was a light airy and friendly place sans white coats or aprons. It was spacious and you can actually have a conversation there - not packed and noise as I'm use to in NY steakplaces. The food was excellent, the selection of wine steep, and most importantly, the steak was the best we ever had. The service is attentive, Yes the price was steeper than I thought, but that's what you pay for quality. And we felt we had good quality steak. Med rare was done to perfection. Our waiter - nice young guy, recommended lobster bisque which was their signature and fresh oysters - he was singing to our ears - we love it. Overall, I think it's one of the best steak places in HK, hands down, but be prepared to pay for it. I guess cause there are so many less expensive options in HK the price seem steep, but compared to NY - it was still well worth it. At least you get amazing service.
