“Very average seafood”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2013

This seems to be more for tourists, and seemed a little run down. The prawns, fish and crabs that we had were fresh, but cooked very plainly. The soup didn't taste of much. Service was adequate. All in all, it was OK, just once for the experience, but there are many better places to eat seafood in Hong Kong than here.

“Touristy but fun”

This floating restaurant is huge and very touristy but it's really very fun. The food is good and overall, it's slightly tacky but very entertaining.

“Jumbo Floating Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2013

Having taken a harbour tour of Aberdeen on Hong Kong Island and then walked through the turmoil of Aberdeen harbour's hinterland (and got lost) finally we took a taxi to the Jumbo Floating Restaurant that we had passed earlier in our little 'junk'.
While this is an enormous place floating as it does in the middle of the sheltered harbour, we had been advised to try the upper deck restaurant. It was lunchtime, and judging from the faces that filled the surrounding tables, a lot of locals as well as other Asian tourists had chosen to eat here, which we thought was a good sign, and so it proved. We were on three, so didn't manage to snag a window table (you should book and ask for this) but the view was not so important as the food.
We had a banquet for four (not available for 3!) and it was great. A real cross sample of the menu with both seafood and pork and vegetable dishes, all of which were scrumptious.
The atmosphere here was really good with, as you might expect, typical Chinese decoration.
We had lunch but dinner would be great. Highly recommended and a hop-skip-and-jump from Hong Kong Central.

“Good Service, quality wine and good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 16, 2013 via mobile

The visit starts with a journey from Aberdeen Promenade via a free boat shuttle to the restaurant. The shuttle entry is not to miss as a large "Jumbo" signals it. Tip: exit the bus at "Aberdeen Wholesale Fishmarket" opposite of Jumbo shuttle platform.
We reserved a table the same morning upfront to get a good table. Tip: ask for a table at the 1st floor as the 2nd floor is a bit more Mensa style.
We visit the Jumbo website in advance to check out the menu. Our order contained a mix of fish, seafood, goose and complimentary wine (Merlot LaForge at excellent quality). The service and food were good but not excellent and we had a great evening.
After our dinner we were invited to make pictures of us on an extra decorated area. Tip: on the base level feel free to make a walk through the backstage where you can see the water basins with all fish, shrimp and prawn.

Costs: sure, it's more expensive than inner city local restaurants but we feel it's worth for what you get.

General: better to go there in the evening

“Mediocre food, Amazing decor, Amazing view”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 14, 2013

The Top Deck- Jumbo Floating restaurant is definitely somewhere that any visitor to Hong Kong needs to stop, not for the food for the ambiance. The food is pricy and average I guess. It's not great nor is it bad, Mediocre I suppose. The views and decor however are definitely something to see if you are feeling touristy. The floating restaurant seems custom made for large groups of friends or families. I do not recommend for Business meetings as it is just to loud.
Expensive but worth it just for the experience.
