“Delicious dinner with wonderful service”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

A group of 8 of us visited Hong Kong in November. This was a first time trip for many in our group, so while the Jumbo may be a kitschy, touristy place, where else should you go when it's your first trip to this great city? When I ate here on my first trip to HK over 20 yrs ago, I had a good if not memorable meal and a fun time. I figured it was more about the experience than the food. It all begins with a short ferry boat ride from the dock to the floating restaurant which is lighted up like a Vegas casino.

I expected a fun experience, but I wasn't prepared for how good this meal would be. This was one of the best meals during our stay in HK, which was a very pleasant surprise. Who knew foie gras fried rice would be so delicious? The menu was varied with classic Chinese dishes and some not so classic (like the foie fried rice). Luckily because we had so many in our group, we were able to order a variety of dishes and had a family style Chinese banquet. Every dish was perfect from fish to peking duck. Service was efficient and attentive, the dining room lovely. We even had a decent wine.

Could not have been more pleased and the price was very reasonable (by US standards) considering all that we enjoyed. Our meal including wine & beverages came to under $50 per person. In all my previous return trips to HK I had not even thought about dining at Jumbo again, but after this experience, I would definitely return.

“Fabulous 8 course banquet!”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

I visited this fabulous restaurant as part of an evening tour which included a harbour cruise. I was very impressed with the opulence of the restaurant and overwhelmed by the service and fantastic eight course chinese banquet that was served in such a stylish and beautiful setting.

“Excellent experience”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Excellent food and ambience. The selections we had were exceptionally well prepared and were presented perfectly.
There are cheaper and more expensive places to eat in Hong Kong, but none have quite the location or approach. The short boat ride across the harbour really did set the evening up very well indeed.
